RE: Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - Alouion - 26-09-2017 Very, very proud of the lads' first half efforts. We could easily have been 2 up rather than one down. After City game, Pulis seems to have thought maybe WBA can play a more attacking game and our efforts deserved more than we got. I was at the game last year when we lost to a late goal after a typical Pulis display. I feel sorry that last night's more ambitious performance was unrewarded. Every player put in a major shift first half but we faded as the game wore on. Its seems clear to me that our problems are up front. Robson-Kanu is a trier but he is nowhere near good enough to start. He is better brought on late when defenders are tiring. I would not argue with anyone who says Rondon has been a disappointment but if we are to play 2 up top he has to accompany Rodriguez. It's no good bringing him on when the team is flagging towards the end. I would not be too harsh on Nyom for his rather rash challenge. I could not see why a free kick was given against Evans leading to their goal. Our first half performance was one of our best ever PL away efforts. We gave a high-class team some shaky moments. However we have got to start converting our chances again. RE: Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - Baggiebob(BBB) - 26-09-2017 Would the ref go before a review board of refs and given a bollocking - also given points as to their handling the game? Just asking. That decision re the penalty could have changed the game - thought Roddy was too honest and not laid down. and got a penalty. This obviously made the a difference to the refs decision. What do you think? Just asking. Not sure how the refs are assessed; you'd hope that, given the riches at stake, every game would be scrutinised and crap performances resulting in slapped wrists, warnings or demotion. Your last point, BBB, about Rods not staying down.......I'd be amazed if it hadn't been given if he'd been on the other side. Surely contact - and enough contact to bring another player down - is contact, regardless of whether he stays down or gets up - especially in the soddin' penalty area? !! RE: Arsenal vs WBA - Match Thread - Worldclassalbion - 26-09-2017 What a difference between Jay Rod and Sanchez. The latter is a diving cheating bastard!!! |
