RE: On political analysis - ritchiebaby - 20-05-2017 To be fair to Willie Rennie (and no, I don't like him either), there is a difference. He is not wanting a second EU Reerendum, he wants a referendum on the final deal between the UK and the EU. I'm sure that, if Scotland gains independence, he will propose that Scottish voters have the chance to vote on the final divorce settlement before the split. ![]() The thing that interests me is that Nicola seems to have already conceded defeat to the Tories. In my opinion, she should be urging all English non-Tory voters to vote for the second-placed party in Tory marginal seats. Does she want to get rid of the Tories or not? ![]() The SNP are irrelevant in this election and she (and the PM) knows it. The SNP can only manage a swing of one seat away from the Tories and could just as easily lose one, so the only chance of defeating the Tories is for the English to do their stuff and vote Labour or Lib Dem. Like hibeejim21, I rather like the Labour manifesto in general. The Lib Dems are woolly-headed as usual and the Tories are ........, well, just Tories. The best way to improve our lot is to spend money on capital investment in our infrastructure and that means raise extra money through taxes - not immediately vote-worthy but it does make sense in the long run. Austerity does not work with top-heavy management structures. Get the money through to the men on the ground and get building from the bottom up. RE: On political analysis - hibeejim21 - 20-05-2017 Yeah,i'm quite tempted to vote labour this time out. Although i'm still strongly in favour of independence i'm not a great fan of my current SNP MP and whats in the labour manifesto fits me well politically. Not that it will matter as the SNP have a whopping majority. I have a feeling the tories will take a number of seats this time out though as the unionist and orange vote moves across to the tories. That social care robbery that the tories are going to carry out on their own supporters is pretty scandalous,Asset stripping the elderly for the "crime" of getting ill in their old age, forget the fact these people worked hard and paid their National Insurance and Council Tax for decades in order to fund the NHS and social care, their houses are somehow low-hanging fruit for the Tories. It's indefensible considering they're gifting the Corporations with a £70 billion tax break. I'll be interested to see the polls when that one sinks in. RE: On political analysis - 0762 - 20-05-2017 How kind of the Tories to leave £100k of their estate untouched Jim eh ![]() RE: On political analysis - hibeejim21 - 20-05-2017 It truly is a scandalous policy, and just shows you how confident the tories are that they can be that up front about how they are going to xxxx us up. It may well be that a number of that tory vote affected by this might just sit on their hands this time out at election time, which might mean a bit less of a landslide than first feared. Heres hoping. RE: On political analysis - hibeejim21 - 21-05-2017 Tory lead halved.....44/35 According to a few polls today. Could corbyn be about to make a fight of this after all ? RE: On political analysis - 0762 - 22-05-2017 Did you watch that fiasco of a televised debate last night broadcast by the 'impartial' (??) bbc Jim??? The nurse who uses a food bank and blaming Sturgeon for it???? The whole lead up to this attack was absolutely ludicrous and so pro Tory in it's content - not worth watching by any vigilant Scottish voter and dwelling on devolved issues where the Tories and other unionist allies have no accountability while the SNP/Nicola are subjected to attacks/criticisms on issues that are not relevant to a UK general election!!! ![]() RE: On political analysis - spireitematt - 22-05-2017 I don't know why but it feels like the tide is turning. Political plants are nothing new. The right wingers know how to use them thats for sure. Just watch question time ! Its all academic now though, after the tragic events in manchester campaigning will be off the menu and 'strong and stable',troops on the street and union jacks will be back to the fore. The tories will win by at least 10 points i reckon, and all at the point where may was beginning to look really vulnerable and labour were starting to make in-roads. RE: On political analysis - 0762 - 24-05-2017 Aye! That's prob the way it will pan out. I can't bear watching any more of the British press/media still 'feasting like ghouls' on this human tragedy - listened to the usual platitudes and 'milking' of an absolutely tragic bombing incident - deja vu and nothing changes in that respect with the press 'thriving on it' hour after hour after.... and then more of the same the following day - sickening TBF!! |
