RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - 1Wattie - 16-04-2016 0762 It looks like we have found a decent keeper who can deal with crosses, and penalties, and as you say is well organised but I don`t agree that we should keep him for the final and play-offs. There`s still a chance that we could get caught for 3rd so all of our remaining matches take on extra importance. I said before the game that Stubbs was taking a chance by playing a goalie who had no chance to settle in to our system. By that I meant Logan should have played a couple of league games before today but he clearly proved he was well up to the challenge. Two cup finals in one season is something not done by many clubs and winning one would be outstanding. 3 S/C finals in 5 years- 3rd time lucky HOPEFULLY!!!!!!!! RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - HerefordBull - 16-04-2016 Aye just back as well 0762. What a game......poor quality but some entertaining stuff. Logan may be chunky but you are right 0762, has experience, controls his area , is vocal and I saw something today I have wanted Oxley to do for ages......cross/corner into the box in a dangerous area and he is out there punching it clear with authority. There certainly were some similarities with Burridge who when I watched him at Villa used to come out and do handstands and walks around his area .....what a charachter........ Cannot see Logan doing that but who cares. He also spread himself really well for the three 1 on 1's he had to deal with. I always watch the goalies at the shoot outs and too many move too soon giving the taker an easy job to score ( theres was a little quick in his movement) ....often relatively down the middle......I liked Logans technique in waiting that split second which with the first 2 penalties led to him making saves....although as Worthing says, he could have saved them.....guess we'll never know on that score. ![]() ![]() Down side today was our legs had gone at 70 minutes again... ![]() Well done Hibs.....cancelled my Wembley trip for that weekend, my other HFC will have to wait, as I will be back at Hampden.....'mon Hibs. GGTTH ps: However .....we know who will be back in goal on Wednesday. ![]() RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - 0762 - 16-04-2016 Stubbs' 'pecking order' prevails and the Ox is reinstated on Wed night exeterhibby? That was the big talking pt amongst us when victoriously leaving Hampden. My hunch is the big goalie is gonna be kept in cold storage for games that matter and that's Stubbs game plan. IMO our defenders can only play better with this splendid, dominant goalie behind them. He's clearly a veteran campaigner from English League footie and Stubbs knew it - he's 'pulled a rabbit out of the hat', what a good short-term signing and this guy could end up being a legend! Also IMO the manager should never have taken off Hendo and weaken our mid area but he got away with it! PS: can anybody remember the Ox saving a pk for us? RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - hibeejim21 - 16-04-2016 "Down side today was our legs had gone at 70 minutes again..." Aye,had a bad feeling at that point.Happened so many times. Thought we had played well up to that point barring a couple of brainfart moments from our defence that logan bailed us out from. The keeper, and mcgregor got us through the latter stages and extra time, when henderson and stokes went off nothing stuck for us at all in utds end. Fyvie did break up play well but his distribution was poor. Cummings made a xxxx of the pk and had another poor game but he didnae hide when the penalties came round - if he hadn't fannied about with the one earlier i doubt it would have gone to extra time. Two cup finals in a season playing in the championship... Brilliant stuff !I'm so pleased for stubbs, who has been up against it of late. I thought he was really gracious to utd afterwards in the interview, he's a class act. RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - 0762 - 16-04-2016 Re the 1st Cummings pk, I saw it again on SkySport and he tried to be a smart arse with a chip shot pen - a daftie! The United goalie had moved early to his left and it was just a case of watching the early move and slotting the baw away in the opp corner! It was all part of the unfolding drama and agreed he made up for it in the end. I noticed Paul Hanlon grabbed him before the decisive pk and I could see he was prompting Jason to take it and he duly trotted up to 'do the biz' and the Hibs fans, massed in the North Stand, erupted in relief and celebration! ![]() RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - ritchiebaby - 16-04-2016 Fantastic result from an ordinary performance, except for the first half-hour. I feel that Stubbs was right to take Henderson and Stokes off, especially Henderson who was completely done in. El Alagui seems to be a goner with his injuries and should now be forgotten about as a serious contender for the rest of the season. For me, Fyvie was fairly poor, and his place must be in doubt for the final. Logan was undoubtedly MOTM and I think that Bartley had another impressive game, as did Darren MacGregor. Cummings winning penalty was also pretty poor and, had the keeper guessed right, it would have been a comfortable save. He should be studying Martin Boyle's penalty to see how it should be done. Oh, for another fantastic result from an ordinary performance on 21 May. I'll be watching on the box again - in a bar in Spain. ![]() Just remembered - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conrad_Logan "He's been on loan to a few League One and Two clubs (that's the market we're in), but he does seem to be good at saving penalties. ![]() RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - 0762 - 16-04-2016 Re the Fyvie issue, we're clearly missing the availability of Dylan - a mid player who can 'stand on the baw' and is comfortable with it! He has been sorely missed! Re the El Alagui issue, I lost count of the number of hibees who voiced concern re his fitness plus the threat of another injury, when he came on in the 2nd half, and they were right - a huge gamble and gaffe by Stubbsy! I'm guessing Farid has been instructed to withdraw on the slightest tweak and that's what is currently happening. He may still recover fairly quickly but agreed his involvement is in serious doubt - a great pity it has turned out this way and Hibs must surely question the role and advice given by the sports' scientists in this case. RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - hibeejim21 - 17-04-2016 Be interesting to see how the managers approaches the remaining games ? Do we just rest the key players now and potentially forget about 2nd place? RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - 0762 - 17-04-2016 With this splendid goalie, 'go Italian' and do the same as some of the shit sides that beat us eh! ![]() RE: Hibs v Dundee United: Scottish Cup semi-final, 16 April 2016 - hibeejim21 - 17-04-2016 Time to watch the other semi. Could it be a "Hampden in the green" next month? Time will tell. Who is that fat tramp sitting next to Lennon? Looks like he's came straight from a night oot. Holy xxxx its mojo. |
