RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Worldclassalbion - 03-02-2018 Hang on folks. I’m seriously disappointed but we always blow the big occasions. We did the same when we wore the 68 cup strip against Leicester. That is by far the worst performance since Pardew took over. Phillips and Brunty in particular were woeful today. Games are running out but we will stay up. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 03-02-2018 (03-02-2018, 20:28)Worldclassalbion Wrote: Hang on folks. All the warnings were there saints never gone 13 without a win Pardew never been beaten at home by saints Lawro has us down to win tbh Lawro is the only man still with any faith albeit misguided in us not too mention the Regis factor I’ve no idea why I even bother taking an interest anymore I shudder when we score that early id rather see 0-0 to the 90th minute cos we cannot build on those leads we keep throwing away. No doubt Chelsea match will be as predictable as it wasn’t last Wednesday and they will be the ones winning 3-0 then the goal average is done for as well as being totally cut adrift. Let’s face it we’re as good as relegated already. Yet another miserable Saturday night drowning sorrows. We are utterly predictable and heading to the championship I personally don’t care if wolves and or villa come up at least we will avoid been beaten by them next year. The fat lady just cleared her throat today what a total farce this season has been https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIVfbylUU-M DD ![]() ![]() RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - WBA-Josh - 03-02-2018 1) 4 points from safety with 12 matches to go so we are nowhere near finished yet. 2) 36 points to play for and we realistically need at least 16 more points to stay up. It's going to be tough but it's doable. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - bomberbrown1968 - 03-02-2018 You don't drop a man bang in form just because we've signed Sturridge, who can't be match fit and would be perfect for the last half hour until he is - unbelievable ![]() Utter garbage, even at 3-1 down it was Southampton pushing for more. And Phillips ![]() And yes Josh, I do still believe it's doable but I've got no faith tonight, the games are fast running out and apart from Huddersfield we're the only ones not grabbing vital points and an even more vital win. Chelsea, the cup game and then guess who - Huddersfield, another must win and the biggest game of the season again - do I fancy us? - not a bit tonight. 3pm today and they don't come any bigger, full house, emotional atmosphere, memorable occasion and a chance to get within a point of safety. Sadly today meant a whole lot more to us than it did to the team ![]() RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 03-02-2018 On a lighter note Just found this on Twitter, Pardew spoke to Big Ron today and asked him how the current Albion team would do against his 79 side, Ron replied it would be very close, so I'd say a draw, Pardew looked rather smug about the reply and he started to walk away when Ron shouted but they haven't trained for 30 years ![]() RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - drewks - 03-02-2018 I DO understand the negativity about today, but it was only last Sunday when we were all so optimistic and purring about our great performance at Anfield against a Liverpool side that was expected to hammer us. OK, today was a disaster, no doubt about it. We are in a terrible position, no doubt about that either. Some strange selections also, particularly JRod not starting when he's looked so sharp for the last few weeks. BUT ......we had a few key players out today. Many didn't perform, it's true, but there IS still hope, if we can find that spirit of performance that we had only last weekend. A couple of key players back and you never know. We are down, sure, but not out -- YET. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - May68 - 03-02-2018 (03-02-2018, 20:28)Worldclassalbion Wrote: Hang on folks. Thought he put himself about and genuinely looked like he cared. He also provided the assists for both of our goals. We need him in the team. RE: WBA vs Southampton - Match Thread - BaggieMan - 03-02-2018 What a great shame after the day had started so well with a super tribute to Cyrille from former players, friends and family with Adrian Childs and Frank Skinner being the anchor men. Everything was rosy until Hegazi scored when we sat back deep Pulis style surrendering the midfield and initiative to the opposition. Phillips was dreadful and apart from one good cross resulting in Rondons goal, Brunt was poor as was Yacob - in fact all the team with the exception of Foster and Hegazi. With Chelsea away to come, the future isn’t bright. In all the years I’ve been supporting the Albion, we have never performed as we should against lesser teams but turn it on against the better ones. All is not lost but not far from it. As has been said before, strange how some people see a players performance differently. Yes Brunty put in a very good cross for both goals but apart from that, too many mistakes and misplaced passes. Phillips was dreadful all round. Burke really showed his pace and raw talent. Sturridge didn’t really do a lot. Rondon a lot of effort and a good goal. McClean useless. Ah well, it’s only a game. Josh, I think the problem is not the number of games because, you're right, there's enough to gather the points we need. Neither is the issue Chelsea away, manure away, Spurs at home; the problem is Huddersfield at home, Burnley at home, Swansea at home etc, games we will undoubtedly fail to win. Our home results against Stoke, Newcastle, Watford, Southampton and West Ham have been wretched. When we get relegated, those are the games we'll point to, not our performances against the top six. I'm not going to blame Pardew, even though I'm struggling with some of his selections; this debacle lies squarely at the feet of Mr A Pulis. For all those pundits who thought we were insane to dismiss this footballing genius and magician, it's good to see he's doing a really great job at Middlesbrough. |
