RE: WBA vs Bournemouth - Match Thread - betterthanbaird - 19-12-2015 Both reds were the right decision but the penalty was doubtful (I was at the game but I've not seen replays). We only pulled our finger out in the second half and we played with better with 10 men than 11. I assume Lambert will replace Rondon up front during his suspension and Sess will come back in for McLean so Gardner will probably keep his place. As I said earlier, three years of recruitment issues may have left us with a mini when we need a jaguar, perhaps with an aging squad we are playing the best way we can for now ...... change takes time or perhaps we're just crap.(19-12-2015, 21:03)TheBaggieMan Wrote: I'm saying nothing as if I do, I'll be called an idiot. RE: WBA vs Bournemouth - Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 19-12-2015 I think the loss today was down to 2 reasons, James McClean and Mike Dean. After the tackle against Spurs, you would expect McClean to have calmed down. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. Given that he's nothing more than a 'worker' at this level - I don't think he offers enough to justify his hot head. Which leads me onto Dean... The red card for McClean was correct. However, had Dean spotted as the obvious foul on McClean prior to his tackle, the situation wouldn't have materialised. While there's no doubt that McClean was an absolute clown for the tackle - I have no idea how a professional ref at this level can miss the foul before hand. The penalty... This was a 'soft' foul anywhere on the pitch which was touch and go if it should be given. However, if the ref is going to give the foul then it happens quite clearly a few yards outside of the box. If the Bournemouth player steps up and pops a free kick into the top corner, no complaints; but to give a penalty is ludicrous. As for Rondon red, i'd have to see it again, but clearly the Bournemouth player is the aggressor. Both players are head to head and because the Bournemouth player falls over, Rondon is shown a red and the aggressor is shown only a yellow. The inconsistency is beggars belief. As for the game itself, it was very frustrating that Bournemouth were bossing the game XI on XI. However, they are notoriously fast starters who score early in games and I believe that if we hadn't been reduced, our spell was coming and we would've gone on to win the game. I genuinely don't think they would've had the quality to break us down with XI on XI and we would've scored against them. We still managed a spell with 10 men and probably deserved a draw given the nature of their equaliser. You sometimes get these games where everything goes against you, but it leaves a sour taste that everything in this game involved the referee's incompetency. I was absolutely fuming after the game, but looking back now, I think this will be a one off. If it all evens out then one season soon we are going to get three hundred penalties and will pay against nine men every game and we will be crowned champions at the end of September. RE: WBA vs Bournemouth - Match Thread - Dingle Bells - Dingle Bells - 20-12-2015 I was at the game today. Mcclean tackle was bad deserved the red card,no question. How did little old baggies got a player like Rondon? Hes quality and class a total beast who runs his heart out every game. Shame to see him lose him temper (dont blame him tbh) As far asMcclean goes, total idiot today, but... He has earnt my respect he runs his heart every second of every game. He put maximum effort which is all we can ask for? Big up to Rondon, dare I say it... He deserves better RE: WBA vs Bournemouth - Match Thread - Beefy 1965 - 20-12-2015 (19-12-2015, 19:15)St Charles Owl Wrote: Sorry guys, just seen the penalty over here and it looked like one to me. Contact started outside the box but the foul looked inside the box. Both sendings off were right as well, McClean saw red and "followed" the guy and then put in a leg breaking challenge!! Rondon reacted poorly and was rightly sent off. Sorry just seen the penalty incident on the Tv and the challenge is well outside the box it happened in the "D" and they fell in the Box disgraceful decision again ![]() RE: WBA vs Bournemouth - Match Thread - Zinman - 20-12-2015 1 shot in 45 minutes. At home. Against Bournemouth. The sending off made little difference - it just meant we had 8 men behind the ball rather than 9.........at home. Against Bournemouth. Yes the ref was dreadful. Yes 2 players were stupid, but we got what we deserved from our totally negative mind set. I'd suggest that playing 65 minutes with a man down makes a big difference in a game. Especially when Bournemouth are the team who have covered the most miles in the league. There's no doubt they were on top XI on XI in terms of possession but they didn't create anything. Even with an extra man for 65 minutes, it took the ref putting the chance on a plate for them. I can only speculate, but with 11 men, I think we'd have had more of a dominant spell and I don't think we would've conceded. The fact Gosling was allowed even to run at the box was down to tiredness. Looking again on MOTD, Rondon's sending off was justified. But still feel Dean made fatal mistakes, which cost us. XI on XI for 90 minutes and you've got a completely different game. |
