RE: Cambridge news - themaclad - 23-12-2025 Cambridge United midfielder George Hoddle has signed a new contract to run until the end of the 2027-28 season. The 20-year-old, a relative of former England boss Glenn Hoddle, has made 12 appearances this season, either side of a loan spell with non-league Bedford Town. "Since coming into the team, Hodds has handled himself with real composure and shown excellent qualities that have helped us be successful over a short period of time," said boss Neil Harris. "He has outstanding attributes that suit the way I see the team developing, and we believe he has so much growth in him as he continues to develop into a senior player at our football club." Saturday's 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley extended Cambridge's unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 matches and they are now eighth in League Two, just one point outside the play-off places. Hoddle has started the last two league games and said: "It's been a strong season for both myself and the team so far, and the past few weeks have been what I have been working towards. "I know there is still a long way to go for me, and that I will have to continue working hard and performing in order to stay in the team." He first joined the U's as a 14-year-old and the loan spell at Bedford in September and October was the fourth in his time at the club. |
