Cambridge United midfielder George Hoddle has signed a new contract to run until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The 20-year-old, a relative of former England boss Glenn Hoddle, has made 12 appearances this season, either side of a loan spell with non-league Bedford Town.

"Since coming into the team, Hodds has handled himself with real composure and shown excellent qualities that have helped us be successful over a short period of time," said boss Neil Harris.

"He has outstanding attributes that suit the way I see the team developing, and we believe he has so much growth in him as he continues to develop into a senior player at our football club."

Saturday's 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley extended Cambridge's unbeaten run in all competitions to 11 matches and they are now eighth in League Two, just one point outside the play-off places.

Hoddle has started the last two league games and said: "It's been a strong season for both myself and the team so far, and the past few weeks have been what I have been working towards.

"I know there is still a long way to go for me, and that I will have to continue working hard and performing in order to stay in the team."

He first joined the U's as a 14-year-old and the loan spell at Bedford in September and October was the fourth in his time at the club.

Cambridge United have signed Rotherham United defender Sean Raggett on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 32-year-old has made 13 appearances for the Millers this season, scoring once - against Manchester City Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.

He joins a Cambridge side second in League Two and unbeaten in 14 matches under boss Neil Harris.

"He brings huge experience, not only at this level but of competing at this stage of the season to be successful," said Harris.

"He will add aggression, composure and ability into our defensive unit, and I look forward to seeing his qualities within the group."

Raggett played for Dover Athletic and Lincoln City before moving into the English Football League with Norwich and Portsmouth, who he helped win promotion from League One in 2024 before joining Rotherham.

Cambridge United forward Ben Knight has signed a two-year contract extension to run until the end of the 2027-28 season.

Knight, 23, has scored six goals in 29 appearances this season - including three in the past four games - to help the U's into the League Two promotion race.

They are fifth in the table, just two points below the top three, despite their 14-match unbeaten run coming to an end at Harrogate on Saturday.

"We are in a strong position and it's a really exciting time - that's why I want to be here," said Knight, who joined Cambridge last summer after beginning his career in Manchester City's academy.

Boss Neil Harris added to the club website:, external "Over the last seven months, Ben has developed hugely, both on and off the pitch, and there's still so much more to come from him.

"He has a clear development pathway in front of him that I believe will see him continue to grow as a footballer, and his form over the last six to eight weeks has certainly coincided with our rise up the league table."

Cambridge are in action again on Tuesday evening with an away game at Crawley Town.
