The morning after. I hope Bilic has got them all on for fitness training. I believe we are back to the issue of lack of energy and fight that we had in the 2nd half of last season. As we haven't changed any of the personal why should we expect anything different. Old saying is you either change the players or change the players. Early days yet, but Bilic needs to change things before the lack of confidence excuses start. Everton will be on a high after beating Spurs and if anything it will be a tougher game then Leicester. Some of the untouchables need dropping. And if we play 5 across the back again Bilic needs to have some lessons on bus parking first.

I really enjoyed the first half-hour and thought they started well, but apart from our obvious needs, the biggest irritation for me was the fact that after Leicester scored, our heads went down - they might as well have put a sticker on their foreheads telling everyone, 'we're gonna lose, so why bother!'

I don't understand why it's obvious (to me anyway) we needs some players who have grit and determination. Bilic has had 3 windows and still he hasn't got any? Diangana and Pereira are great talents but even they need someone to do the dirty work. I spent most of last season whinging about our shortcomings. Let's hope we get some real men in, before the window shuts.
We are mentally weak maybe Ivanovic and Deeney can inject some testosterone into our feeble bunch.

A couple of things to add.
Although we let 3 goals in Johnstone never got blamed.
Sawyer's although anonymous for the whole game. We as a team got worse when he was subbed.

BB, I think Livermore has that 'drive', that edge, also Ajayi...... but then I'd be struggling. I agree, ideally we need an old fashioned enforcer, or a little more of 'it' down the spine of the team.
Maybe Ivanovic IS a good one to transplant it, or install it into team members (eating my words already!) - certain players CAN have that inspirational effect on others can't they. Basically we want them to give 120%, not 85% or so!

Hate to say it but I think we saw it in the Leeds team on Saturday!

I really hope Bilic gets some gritty players in, (where are our Sharner's - Olsson' - Yacob's - Malumbu's none of which cost a fortune)  I fear he will be
held to account if he doesn't bring some in. Nice managers don't survive long in the current game.
He has at least to give himself and the team a fighting chance. He still has time in this window.

Though its a given that we need to bolster up the team, it must be said we had TWO penalties against us, which if deducted gives a score of 1-0 defeat. So as penalties can easily happen, to lose 1-0 is not as bad as looking at a 3-0 defeat when REAL goals were scored. Wink

Worth considering.
