Agree totally with The Beefster's post above.
Can't really see how folk are saying we were crap ......also, Tunisia are no mugs either!
No team could sustain that effort of the first half for 90 mins in that heat and humidity (except an African team, maybe!) So IMO it was inevitable that the performance dropped off a tad.
So many positives to focus on - when was the last time we made that number of chances in a big game? !

It's just great to see us playing on the front foot!

In that heat and humidity? It was the same temperature as London.

Tunisia were one daft corner away from a point. With players that mostly play in tunisia or the lower teams in France.

Where and who they play for makes no difference. Just look at Iceland.
Yes they were 1 "daft corner away from a point" but you could also say they were 1 daft goal keeping error away from conceding another goal - there's no need looking at the what it's and maybe's. Focus on the positives - the game wasn't in our favour; especially the 2nd half, but we kept plugging away and despite Tunisia's defensive efforts, their rugby tackling and the ref missing 2 blatant penalties we still won.

Well said! 'Call a spade a spade' and less of the usual delusion - it was just another match lacking real quality TBF! Because Engerland was a participant, does that make it any different eh!? No! It's just another game to add to Themaclad's 'crap list'!

They were very impressive 4 years ago and they have been evolved since then with a younger defence, more complete players in Juan Cuadrado and James Rodriguez and a change in system to 4231.

As for England it was a good start to the tournament but I’m still not convinced by the 352 formation. Last night 3 centre backs against 2 false nines was a waste of resources in my opinion.

Beefy, Sweden played South Korea.

That's what I put Whistle

It was mid 20's last night in London ? Blimey Rolleyes
We were 2 correct decisions away from having blatant penalties given to us, and 4 open goals missed that we should have scored from away from a rout !!
All if's and butts Thumb up

From last night :
Temperature in Volgograd : +21°C
Temperature in London : + 21°C

Status: too warm for england.

Colombia 1-1 Japan at half time.

Japan has been fairly average for me. After going 1-0 up early they could have gone at the ten men to get a second goal but instead they sat back and tried playing on the counter-attack. Colombia on the other hand have been a delight as expected. They generally play quality football and even with ten men they kept playing the same way and they deserved their equaliser. I’m not sure it was a foul on Falcao but Quintero’s free-kick was very clever.

Hopefully the second half will be just as good a performance by Colombia and I hope Japan start playing higher up the pitch and try to regain command of the game.

Vamos.

Watching the Japanese goalkeeper trying to argue he knows better than goal line technology is a highly underrated spectacle.

RE: World Cup 2018 - WBA-Josh - 19-06-2018

Roles reversed in that second half. Colombia were clueless with the ball whilst Japan performed much stronger and deserved the win.

I do wonder how it would have gone if Sanchez hadn’t been sent off though. I think Colombia would have won if it had been 11 vs 11.

Poland vs Senegal in an hour. I wonder if Krychowiak will play.
