We're gonna win the league, we're gonna win the league, and now your gonna believe us we're gonna win the league

It's coming home. It's coming home, football's coming home

We are the champions, we are the champions, no time for losers cause we are the champions

Isn't this what football fans do, unbeaten in friendlies, become world beaters, expectations go up, we get carried away ....

Still concerned 're lack of transfer activity in and out ........ intrepidation about the new season, scared we will fail and the dingles and the Seals will have great seasons .......

Johnstone
Cranie - Bartley - Hegazi - Gibbs
Livermore - Brunt
Phillips - Morrison - Barnes
Robson-Kanu

Dawson out with thigh strain.
Listening to the commentary on the website. Sounds dominant so far.

2-0 to Albion after 8 minutes. Harvey Barnes with both goals.
3-0. Robson-Kanu
4-0. Robson-Kanu.

4 - 1 .... the fight back starts here, their gonna win 5 - 4

5-1. Livermore.

It may only be a League One team but it’s good to see us scoring goals and creating chances.

5 - 2 .... scoring chances, conceding goals ....

RE: Pre-season friendlies - Bierzo Baggie - 28-07-2018

My first game at The Hawthorns since Derby knocked us out the cup a couple of seasons ago. Only a friendly but chances to attend games are few and far between.

Could this be the starting 11 for next week? If so, I was surprised to see Robson Kanu starting ahead of Rodriguez (and I’m supposing Rondon won’t be around for much longer).

Harvey Barnes looks like a great prospect. He’s got poise, a deft touch, can take players on.. he took both his goals very well and set up Robson Kanu with one delicious cross. It was just like watching his dad Peter Barnes play at the start of his career. That’s what I told the bloke next to me anyway. Turns out he’s not even related to Peter Barnes, now why did I think that? Doh

Livermore: strong, solid, unspectacular but should be a key player at Championship level if he stays.

Morrison was busy, very lively and that was good to see. Hope they get that contract signed soon.

Brunt sill oozes class at times and strolls around a lot. Seemed to fancy himself as sweeper in the second half.

Didn’t think much of Cranie and would prefer Leko to Burke to be honest. This guy can’t even make the starting 11 in the friendlies and looks like a bit of a headless chicken from the little I’ve seen of him. OK, he’s fast but so was Kevin Bartlett (remember him?) 15 million quid ...oh dear.

Hegazi and Bartley generally dealt with the limited Coventry threat although there were lapses in concentation. Can’t complain about the result though, a fitting tribute to Cyrille overall and some great Soul classics played over the PA! Reckon that the last time I saw Albion score 5 in one game the big man was playing!

I have watched the highlights of the game on Ifollow and I was impressed by the first half and the goals scored. It was very good to see us actually create goals from open play playing actual football rather than the set piece reliance tripe of previous seasons. I know it was only Coventry but it is still fresh air.

I think that midfield will be our first choice going into the season and I’ll be content with it. It has the solid base of Livermore and Brunt (Brunt as a Regista with Livermore box-to-box), the directness of Phillips and the clever creativity of Morrison and Barnes. Put Rodriguez or Dwight Gayle as the lone striker and we should be strong.

My worry is still at right back. Nyom is like Bambie, Cranie isn’t good enough there and Wilson is still learning the game. In my opinion we need to be looking at signing a quality right back during the week. Even if we have to loan in someone from the Premier League, the position has to be secured. We can’t go into the season with only Nyom and Wilson.

.... right back - still have Dawson...at the moment, anyway.
(must say that I prefer him at CB tho)
