Bad day at the office last night, Hibs got a much needed win and it's game on for 2nd place now. Can't believe the criticism of Miller last night thought the whole team was poor in defence and the final third at times.

It always peeves me when folks who shold know better fly our Union Flag upside down ! ... unless, as Exeter suggests, they were anticipating the distress to come, as shown below.

exeterhibby Wrote:My thoughts from last night.....we sat much lower in the west stand opposite the penalty spot so gave us firstlly a chance to observe the Assistant Ref.....what a joke. Apart from some offsides missed ( for both sides)  there were 2 blatant handballs right in front of his nose, one for Hibs and one for The Rangers. He seemed unable to make a decision unless the ref blew first but he ( the ref) was obscured from a clear view so needed the AR's help.

I thought Millers fitness was good and he is still quick and movement off the ball is good ( that might not have been seen on the telly)  OK nothing fell for him last night but he is still a threat.

Tavernier is a really good player. In the second half he was pushing on more and more in front of us and he is not only strong but has good pace. Again nothing worked for him except by drifting more into the middle meant McKay covered on the right for him and so was in the right place to pick up the ball and hit his strike to give the gers their second goal. Good strike but need to see the replay to see if Oxley could have done better.

The Rangers movement and possession was excellent and if we have any aspirations of lifting the Scottish Cup we need to improve in both these areas as I doubt lightening will strike twice and be gifted another goal from a poor cross.

The atmosphere from the Rangers fans was definately one of the job has already been done, the title is theirs and for them it was almost "party" like, win or lose.......fair enough. The only problem we could see was the biggest Union flag....Drongan Loyal .....was upside down so they were already in distress from the start.  Doh  ( unless its a Belfast thing?)  It is very unusual to see this mistake by the gers fans?

Don't forget the goal gifted from OUR throw-in.  FFS you wouldn't expect to see that in the amateur game.

Fredstersafool Wrote:Of course I did I'm saying Miller didn't do enough for the players to get him in,yer creative players had nothing to hit,end if day it was basically a nothing game for gers who firmly shot themselves in the foot but they will win the final IMO

He was feeding off of less than scraps.  We need to be a little more direct occasionally - there are periods in games when just having the ball appears to be the strategy. That's great if you are winning, but not so good if you have gifted a 2 goal start to the 3rd best team in the league.

Just fuqing shoot when in and around the box, you have to make your own luck and you do that via cause an effect not blunt passing.  A few shots from 20 odd yards would have seen a bit of pinball in the box and the possibility of the ball falling around Miller.

Yep, they did. Only happened once I think.

Hardly tradition then is it

All traditions have a beginning.

One of the rangers centre backs (was it kiernan??) was unbelievably slow in reacting to it. I know you had a hard game on sunday but that shouldn't be happening.

Struck me that for all of rangers good possession play they created very little. Oxley was your biggest threat.

It's a mantra you've been mentioning all season. Just f*cking shoot. And you're dead right. Every shot causes panic in a defence.

If defenders know you won't or can't shoot from outside the box, they will concentrate on crowding the penalty box and prevent space for the forwards. If they have to concentrate on defending outside the box too, it becomes a lot more difficult to pack that penalty area. Voila, more space for strikers, and more shots on goal.

We're making it too easy for teams to defend against us.

Well I suggest you begin it next season by forming a guard o' honour for whoever wins the league.

It began some seasons ago, it doesn't need beginning again.

Some teams participate, some evidently don't. It's not the ones that do that are getting any of the flak. Deal with it.
