RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD - (EQ) England v Estonia and Lithuania - Maddix - 12-10-2015 Those artificial pitches are shit to play on too. They just make the game artificial. They should only be allowed to be used for drunken 25 a side, three hour long, kickabouts between the English versus the Germans/Dutch/French/Spanish/Italians/Jocks and Paddys whilst on holiday in the Canary Islands ![]() RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD - (EQ) England v Estonia and Lithuania - St Charles Owl - 12-10-2015 I always feel like I am watching a pre-season friendly when it's on an artificial pitch. Of course the way the game turned out was more like a pre-season game anyway. England in complete control without getting out of second gear. Well done to them, 10 games, 10 wins, not really troubled at all and a perfect job well done. RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD - (EQ) England v Estonia and Lithuania - Maddix - 12-10-2015 There are so many different nuances that a good footballer can use on grass that don't apply on an artificial surface. Even the direction the turf has been cut makes a difference to the pace that needs to be put on a pass or knowing that it's a quite wet down one wing so a long ball will hold up or skid on depending on the trajectory ... artificial pitches don't add to the skills of the game like some would have us believe, they just take the real skills away from the top talent. RE: INTERNATIONAL THREAD - (EQ) England v Estonia and Lithuania - Washington - 12-10-2015 My analogy of grass and artificical turf is that real grass is like playing squash and the turf is like playing raquetball. The first time I played the latter over here I'd rush to hit the ball like in squash only to find it had bounced over my head and was at the back of the feckin court.
