Now we're in trouble ... Mowatt off injured and diakite on

There it is 90+4 …. 2-1 Leicester.

Get to be game over for Mason.

They have had two shots on target from similar places, centre of the box, result ….. two goals.
We have sixteen shots, eight on target, result ….. a single solitary pitiful goal.
Full time whistle, a 2-1 defeat. Ten league defeats away from home on the bounce …. Our worst run for ninety nine years …….

That's bloody typical!! 2-1 to Foxes (last minute) after Albion have played well

Story of our season ….. more shots … can’t score …..
Then can’t defend and lose to a late late goal …….

Need a better goalkeeper to install confidence and believe in the defence, we also need to stop being so gung-ho and sloppy.

Will a much better performance - but still ANOTHER loss - postpone the seemingly inevitable sacking??

RE: WBA Xmas & New Year Thread - Salopbaggie - 06-01-2026

When their keeper gets man of the match it says something, but its all about putting the ball in the net, to be honest I don't know why Maja bothered getting stripped surely its time to try Dike and Heggebo, as two up front

It’s Mason’s substitutions that are mind boggling!!! I get that Mowat was injured, but why take off Heggebo. His work rate and physicality were a constant thorn in the side of Leicester which we lost completely when Maja came on, and the least said about Iling Jnr the better.
I really feel for the rest of the guys who put a shift in and definitely did not deserve that.
But with 5 minutes to go you just knew we were going to lose.

I really don’t understand his clear reluctance to play Dike. As others have said, Maja is contributing next to nothing but he’s always the go to when substituting Heggebo. Your like to think by now that Mason would have twigged that this particular substitution is failing dismally.

There's no doubt that it was a better performance than what we've served up recently.

We played well in the first half against Coventry, but other than that, it was one of our best performances on the road since Wrexham at the start of the season.

And it was a pleasant surprise to see us trying to win rather than going all out defence, like we have been doing.

However, the fact it was an improved performance underlines why Mason has to go. In previous games, he's been starting Diakite with Mulumby on the bench. And Diakite is one of the biggest reasons why we have been dreadful.

What we saw tonight is that we are capable of more if we select out best team and actually have a go.

I don't blame Mason for taking Issac Price off tonight, because I thought he was our worst player. His passing is terrible. He had an easy opportunity to play Heggebo in and managed to pass it 10 yards behind him. It's criminal he's our only number 10 option to be honest. However, I don't understand why he brought on Illing-Junior, who has been woefully off form, rather than going 2 up top to take advantage of Leicester's obvious defensive frailties.

To be fair, I thought Maja did okay tonight when he came on tonight, looked more mobile than he has recently, showed some nice touches and link up. However, Heggebo was having a decent game and deserved to stay on. I think we've only seen 2 strikers together twice this season, second half against Swansea at home and the following game against QPR. For me, given the balance of the game today, I think we could've gone two up top again. The fact we didn't and ended up losing makes you think we probably should've threw the kitchen sink at trying to make our dominant spell count.
