Thought about starting a new thread with the following but not sure if a thread is warranted. Advice welcome on that.

Comments on the following also welcome :

<start>
Potential thread title : About so-called 'haters' in football

On the topic of 'haters' this genuine dialogue was seen recently :

"
Fan1> Miraculously the NNFC haters disappeared from the comments. Pretty sure they support <BiggestRival1> or <BiggestRival2> by now
Fan2> Not completely disappeared though.
A few of them have been popping up & complaining about the comments that've been making fun of them & accusing people of 'dividing' the fan base. They were mouthy as anything a few months back & now they don't like what's happening.
I swear that there's some of them who want all this to fall through, so they can come back with their 'told you so's'.
Fan1> Unbelievable! Some people are just pathetic…
Fan2> I won't disagree with that at all.
"

For this comment I replaced the club acronym by NNFC and so on.

That exchange between two football fans could easily have appeared on a North End thread (social media or forum).

Have you seen something like this ?
Does the term 'pathetic' really cover the motivation ?

<end>

No, looks like generic stuff you get from folks when their sides play each other

RE: General Football news 2024/25 - johnno_pne - 15-06-2025

Yes, I think I know what you mean. That's where one fan who openly supports Team A and another fan of Team B simply have a bit of banter.

And that then gets taken to the next step where a fan of Team B impersonates a fan of Team A, for laughs, just for a little while. However, they are using a fake account, so they are investing a bit.

But this (as in the genuine, recent quote and NOT about NE) is going to the next step again, where someone is acting like a deepcover fan of Team A for a long period, simply hoping to sow discontent. And they are successful with it too, until people like Fan1 and Fan2 smell the difference. It takes time for that to happen, of course.

That's a lot of dedication and effort by the perp.

Just back from posting my proposal to UEFA : isn't it time that the winners of the Northern Premier League, Southern Premier League and Isthmian League all played against each other annually to see which feeder league is actually the strongest ?

Because we *do* need football in June and July.

Perhaps this gives a bit of attention space for other sports too, maclad.

Are you a sportsman at all ?
