RE: Rovers News - themaclad - 31-07-2025 Bristol Rovers have re-signed striker Ellis Harrison on a one-year-deal following his release from MK Dons. The 31-year-old began his career under Rovers head coach Darrell Clarke after coming through the club's academy. He was part of the side that won back-to-back promotions in 2015 and 2016. Harrison went on to play more than 200 games for the Gas before leaving in 2018 to join Ipswich Town. "It's really good to come back to Bristol Rovers," Harrison told the club website, external. "Even when I used to come back here to play against Rovers, it was always nice to come back to The Mem. And it's even better that I get to play for the gaffer again. "We trust each other. He's done a lot for my career. I give 100 per cent for him and I always have and always will. When he gave me the call about coming back to Rovers, it was an easy decision for me." Harrison also played for Portsmouth, Fleetwood and Port Vale - the latter also under Clarke. He was released by MK Dons in May after two seasons in which he make 59 appearances, scoring 12 goals. He spent part of the last campaign on loan at Walsall, scoring three goals in 12 games. Bristol Rovers director of football Ricky Martin said Harrison will be "valuable" for a team looking to improve in front of goal this season. "His profile is a clear match for the type of player we were looking for to strengthen our attacking options and his goals and assists will be immensely valuable for the team this season," he added. RE: Rovers News - themaclad - 03-08-2025 Bristol Rovers have signed forward Fabrizio Cavegn from FC Vaduz for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the League Two club. The former Switzerland Under-21 international made 36 appearances in the Swiss second tier last season, scoring 13 goals. Rovers boss Darrell Clarke told the club website, external: "We've been looking to add reinforcements to our attacking options and Fabrizio will bring versatility, pace, and precision to our front line." RE: Rovers News - themaclad - 15-08-2025 Bristol Rovers have signed Barnsley centre-back Kacper Lopata on a season-long loan. The 23-year-old, who was born in Poland but moved to Bristol with his family as a youngster, is the 10th new signing for Rovers this summer. He joins after spending last season on loan at Scottish Premier League side Ross County. The former Brighton and Hove Albion youngster has also had spells at Sheffield United and Port Vale before moving to Barnsley two years ago. "We have been looking to bring in reinforcements to our defensive options and he brings a strong profile to our group," Rovers' former Barnsley boss Darrell Clarke told the club website. "I worked with Kacper at Barnsley and I know about his strengths, ability and what he can bring to the team. "He is an aggressive and dominant centre-back that we are looking forward to working with in the coming months." RE: Rovers News - themaclad - 04-09-2025 Bristol Rovers have signed midfielders Joel Cotterill and Alfie Chang, centre-back Stephan Negru and forward Freddie Issaka on loan for the rest of the season. Swansea City's Cotterill has also agreed a new deal to keep him at Championship side until the summer of 2027. The 20-year-old has made only one appearance for the Welsh club, in an EFL Cup defeat at Oxford three years ago. He spent last season on loan at Swindon Town, scoring five times in 48 games, while he was also part of Stockport County's promotion-winning squad in the 2023-24 season during another loan spell. Cotterill, who is a Wales Under-21 international, has been described by Rovers director of football Ricky Martin as someone who can "play box-to-box and brings a real energy that will complement our squad, external". Negru joins from Oxford United where he has played since January 2023 and made 21 appearances. The 23-year-old has also had a spell on loan with Salford City during the last campaign. "He is an aggressive and strong centre-back who will add presence to our defensive options," Rovers boss Darrell Clarke told the club website, external. "Stephan has shown already what he can offer at this level over the last season and we're looking forward to working with him over the coming campaign." Issaka has made 39 appearances in total for Argyle and became the club's youngest player in August 2021 when he made his debut aged 15 years and 34 days. The Truro-born player has also represented Wales at under-19 level. "Freddie has electric pace to burn and a fearless ability to take on opponents one-v-one," Martin said, external. Chang signs from Birmingham City with Rovers retaining the option to make the move permanent in the future. The 22-year-old takes the League Two outfit's tally of signings this summer to 14. In total, Chang has played 21 games for the Blues having come through their academy since his debut in 2021 and spent part of last season on loan at Walsall after returning from a long-term knee injury. |
