Season Tickets being cremated as we speak. Wink
Good luck to the lad hope it works out for him, and they get promoted via the playoffs.

RE: Transfers - Fredstersafool - 04-08-2015

That would mean another season for Rangers in the championship coop unless league reconstruction happens

RE: Transfers - El Car - 04-08-2015

Good luck to Gallacher. I think we've just got a lot of competition for spots up front at the moment and for his own sake as much as anything he needs to be getting first team football. While it makes sense at this stage, it's a shame for him that he didn't get more opportunities after making his breakthrough despite there being plenty of times when we were badly in need of a player like him. Suffered from poor management by McCoist and to a lesser extent McCall (who should definitely have rotated players more in the playoffs). Don't think he was fit under McDowall.

A third bid in for Allan apparently. STV has been reporting that it was rejected though no one else picking the story up later seems to back that aspect up. Instead STV is relying on week-old quotes from Hibs like the following from Stubbs: "But nobody sells to their biggest rivals. Not when you've got ambitions"

*cough* AndyColeEricCantonaLuisFigoJuanMataAshleyColeRobinVanPersieFernandoTorresRaheemSterlingMarioGotze and pretty much every Dundee United player in form who gets sold to Celtic whenever they have a big cup game coming up against them.

RE: Transfers - HerefordBull - 04-08-2015

You are right about all those players EC. However the big difference is the money on offer. Those players were bought for what the selling club felt was a fair to good price ( and in the case of Torres a stupid one !) .

The difference here is that Rangers offered what Hibs considered to be a derisory amount and then it was to be paid in installments. Every player has his price and if they had started higher I'm sure he would be wearing the blue of Rangers by now. If Ciftci was bought for over one million then Allan has to be worth 600k +. If Rangers had come in at this figure I think Hibs would have been tempted knowing he will sign a pre contract in January and then won't get a penny for him at the end of the season. As Hibs see it then if they hang on to him and they get promotion by using him it will be worth the loss of revenue. From what I have seen of Rangers so far they don't need Allan desperately for the midfield as they have recruited well........but Hibs need him as when he doesn't play they look blunt. Rangers know this so if they can remove him from the equation gives them a better chance of the league.

Even if they don't get him just yet the unsettling effect on the Hibs team and Allan will suffice for now.

Anyway good luck for the new season and remember its only a game  Whistle

RE: Transfers - supercooper - 04-08-2015

Where do you arrive at that figure exeter? Bearing in mind Utd offered 250,000 6 months ago. You got the lad on a free, and he's only on 800 a week. so how is he worth 600 grand.

RE: Transfers - HerefordBull - 04-08-2015

....and 250k was rejected and at that time he wasn't shown to be the best player in the Championship.

I'm not saying he is worth that SC but that sort of figure would have made the Hibs board take notice. I'm afraid what a player is paid / week is not a reflection on what he would or could be sold for.

Charlie Austin was sold from Poole to Swindon for a nominal amount and then was sold on to Burnley for 1.4 million. I doubt anybody was using an argument saying .....but you got him for next to nothing! Clubs had seen his class and bid accordingly.

RE: Transfers - supercooper - 04-08-2015

But their offer wasn't reported as derisory. 400 grand would have done the job.

RE: Transfers - HerefordBull - 04-08-2015

....yawn....as I said at the time of DU's offer he had only played half a season yet he continued to improve and eventually was voted player of the Championship. ( so increasing his value)

400k would probably have done the job at that time, but it didn't get offered so he remained at Hibs. In many Hibs quarters it was regarded as derisory.

RE: Transfers - Larry-AV - 05-08-2015

Scott Allan also reported on SSN, I don't know if this is because they have picked up the report on STV.

Skysports - Rangers make third bid for Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan

RE: Transfers - struth - 05-08-2015

As I said earlier, I would leave him til Jan and sign him on a bosman. He appears to want to come, and Hibs appear to be adament on not selling, which i understand, to a point, so why push the costs up when we dont have funds to spare. Sure if Celtic had come in it would have been a different story. I am not so sure he will be such an improvement that he is worth chasing to the point of possibly damaging his career at Hibs. I have to say, I do not like players handing in a transfer request to try and push through a deal. It smacks of disloyalty, and if he can do it once, then he can do it again.
