RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - WBA-Josh - 08-07-2017 Another target gone as Ignacio Camacho has completed his move to Wolfsburg from Malaga. This is the guy we were about to sign last August for £17 million and then close to the end of the transfer window we pulled out for "footballing reasons". https://twitter.com/VfL_Wolfsburg/status/883720453260541953 RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - Beefy 1965 - 09-07-2017 It's ok We can look forwards to 36 year old Gareth Barry joining now, No joke it's being reported a lot on Twitter ? And now in the papers WTF !!! http://c.newsnow.co.uk/A/893067291?-11200:789:4 RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - wba1978 - 09-07-2017 (09-07-2017, 01:51)Beefy 1965 Wrote: It's ok ![]() RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - Salopbaggie - 09-07-2017 (09-07-2017, 02:35)wba1978 Wrote:(09-07-2017, 01:51)Beefy 1965 Wrote: It's ok WOW has any other club every had a back 4 with a combined age of well over 100 years old??? 37 36 and 29 years that can be spread over the other two, but Dawson and Brunt would mean our back line would have a combined age of 132 years. There is hope for us old'ens yet, where's me boots ![]() ![]() RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - Stairs - 09-07-2017 I would not be upset with Barry joining us if only I felt there was a game plan behind it e.g. Helping bring on the less experienced players in the club. But as Salop points out our back line are all already vastly experienced - it's new young blood we need in defence and not another, no doubt quality, older statesman. Still early days in the window and the press are pushing all sorts of rubbish onto the sites etc. Stay calm!!! RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - Slick_Footwork - 09-07-2017 Given the fact we probably need a good 5-6 additional players, I don't mind if a couple are 'old heads' on a free to give us a bit more the spend on 3-4 good, young players. That is if the old heads are still good enough. BUT my worry will be if players like Barry are primary targets - just leading to more mass rebuilding next summer. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - 4evaabaggie - 09-07-2017 We need to replace Fletcher but not with a one season wonder who is already 36, are we trying to build a squad of over 33 year olds. We need young players, Wilson from Bournemouth 29 for heaven's sake, makes William carvalho 25 look like a youth team player. Please please please sign the players to fill our deficiencies but please sign good young talent who can do the job and with room to grow .... every year is going to be the same fill holes with players that need replacing in twelve months time. Build build build, but build for the future. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - WBA-Josh - 09-07-2017 Marc Wilson on a permanent deal as hopefully fourth choice centre back and utility man - http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-brom-creeping-closer-second-13305665 William Carvalho £30 million - http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-bromwich-albion-transfer-news-13305003 RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - Worldclassalbion - 09-07-2017 No CDM on the planet is worth £30m and there's no way Albion would pay that even for a top quality Striker. RE: WBA 2017/18 Summer Transfer Window (6 July) - BaggieSteve - 09-07-2017 So, to summarise: we've signed an injury prone striker from Southampton, a young exciting talent from China but whom we won't see due to visa/work permit restrictions and we are in line to sign a cheap utility player unwanted by Bournemouth and a 36 year old past it from Everton to replace our 36 year old past it player who left. Yep, this is shaping up like any other Albion transfer window. I wonder at what point will we re-sign Anichebe? |
