RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - EastLondonTerrier - 18-03-2016 I'd say out of that squad the only players who don't deserve to be in that england squad are walcott and welbeck. Walcott has been absolutely dire for arsenal this season. Begged to be played as a striker then scored diddly squit and has shown 'potential' for 10 years. Welbeck has credit in the bank from roy despite the fact he's just come back from injury but he's versatile and his goal record for england is better than his club record, like podolski was for ze germans. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - jjamez - 18-03-2016 Yeah walcott and welbeck dont deserve to be in it. I'd also be tempted to say jagielka injury issues could be a doubt. Think there are players out there more deserving than those mentioned and if there isnt then i would say take a younger player who is looking like he is going to be good for the experience. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - St Charles Owl - 19-03-2016 If you exclude Welbeck due to his injuries, then Sturridge should also be excluded for the same reason. Based on the need for at least 4 forwards and with Rooney currently injured, who would you bring in the replace them both?? RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - jjamez - 19-03-2016 Honestly i dont think you need four strikers in the squad as such. If you are wanting four then you add younger players so they can get the experience RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 19-03-2016 Can't see either of them doing a full match to be honest. Looking down the leading scorers you'd be left with Defoe and Deeney as the next obvious choices. Defoe I think would be a step backwards. Probably better to have Welbeck and Sturridge around the squad and wrapped in cotton wool than bring players in who probably won't go unless there's some more serious injuries. Even then you might be better promoting from the U21's? RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - Lord Snooty - 19-03-2016 This should be the squad for the World Cup in two years. Anybody who won't be around for Russia or wherever it's going next, shouldn't be going to this one. This should be the warm up tournament. Anybody that Roy thinks could be in in two years time ought to be going to this, like what Sven did with Walcott all those years ago and got slated unfairly for. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - jjamez - 19-03-2016 exactly snoots! by time we get to russia and have untried players, people will cry about the lack of tournament experience and we have a perfect chance now to give them exactly that. tbf deeney has done well this season and probably does actually deserve to be in the squad or at least the reckoning to be in it. he would hold his own in games as he has shown in the prem. far better option than welbeck or sturridge who will probably be injured before the flight to france RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - Lord Snooty - 20-03-2016 The boy Rashford being a prime example. Do we take him to the Euros to get tournament experience if he's gonna be in the World Cup squad in two years time? RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - theo_luddite - 20-03-2016 Sturridge and Hart may be out already. RE: Not The Town O'Clock News - WakeyTerrier - 21-03-2016 Rashford for England....NO!NO!NO! He's only played half a dozen games for Man Utd. Shame about Sturridge getting injured...again. I've always thought he's one of our better strikers, better than Welbeck anyway |
