Lets be fair he never really wanted to sign, a nice easy get out for everyone. I expect him to sign for someone else within days.

MEDICAL: One wonders how much Messrs Sullivan & Gold knew about Sakho's apparent medical issues. If they did, off-load to an unsuspecting club and walk away with £16m and leave that club with an uninsured problem. The simple fact he wasn't taken, or didn't want to go, on the West Ham pre-season tour gives a clue.
ATTITUDE:
Even if they were not aware of any medical issues, they certainly would have known about his attitude and his 'falling out' with Bilic and again off-load with a hefty transfer fee to lumber that club with a Odemwingie/Berahino 'spit out the dummy' player.
DUE DILIGENCE:
Thankfully, although it could surely have been handled far quicker weeks ago when our interest in the player was first muted, we at least we haven't caught a cold and wasted a huge amount of money.
The whole saga stinks on both sides and as fans, we deserve an in depth explanation. As for next season, we are in trouble - one Championship signing, no full backs, no pace or attacking midfield skill added. Again, we will be left with the dregs and outspent by the Vile and the Dingles. As for the reported takeover, well that's another story.

I'm not overly bothered about the Sakho deal collapsing. While the guy did have a decent goal record at West Ham, if you take away him scoring in his first 6 starts, it actually wasn't that great. Plus the kid was fit for less than half of a season for each of his 2 years.
Prior to that he's only played in the lower leagues in France.
If he's come for a medical and has let himself go, then I don't blame the club for pulling out because £15m is hardly a snip. And while we know he hasn't been training with West Ham, he's still a professional and should keep himself in decent shape.
I'd rather keep Saido than sell him and shell out on some fat crock. Yes, he might walk away on a tribunal at the end of the year, but staying up is worth a lot more than transfers in this era. Saido even scored a few winners last year, including the winner against the Vile away...
What is worrying is the general lack of activity so close to the start of the season. So far we've lost Sessegnon and signed Phillips. While I think Phillips has looked decent at times in his career at Blackpool and QPR, he isn't a proven Premier League player yet.
We have an aging squad with very little pace. Olsson and McAuley remain mainstays but will need to be replaced at some point, the latter will be a huge loss. The centre of the park has very little in the way of legs and while we're all chuffed with Mozza signing a new deal, surely we needed someone else mobile in the middle of the park.
We haven't shifted any of the fringe players who aren't in the manager's plans and remain without a natural left back. Due to the lack of activity, lower league fodder such as Gardner and McLean will still be vital elements of the squad, who I thought would've been upgraded by now.
Okay, we're not the only team moving slow, but surely we need to start acting soon... We don't face any of the 'big teams' in our opening games, so that's when we really need to collect some points.

Bit surprised ?
I reckon Bilic, Gold & Sullivan knew all along that Sakho had medical issues and were just trying to get rid quick and make a few £m in the process.

Maybe we used fitness to back out of the deal as an excuse as the takeover became confirmed behind the scenes?
Suddenly we have investment and maybe we are now able to invest in a better class of striker in the next few weeks. Plus a few other positions according the the press.

John Williams' statement mentioned us being 2 or 3 players short, so if we assume we're only making 3 signings, which positions are we going for? I'd think a striker and a left back seem definites, but the third one could probably be any outfield position, probably a winger or another striker.

Based on what Guochuan Lai said in his 'Dear Fans' letter, I don't think we should build our hopes up of a manic activity period in the transfer market. Also, one wonders whether the withdrawal from the Sakho transfer was really down to the new owners and the spending of £16m rather than his fitness. Again, time will tell.
