Do the big name jockeys from over here race much over there?

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - St Charles Owl - 07-06-2015

Not sure I could name the big name jockeys these days. Certainly the ones that were in this race were all either American, Mexican or South American. The winning jockey was Mexican, Victor Espinoza, who is one of the top jockeys over here. Most of the horses are American but there are always some from the Middle East, especially Dubai.

The US Triple Crown is similar to the UK version which includes the 2000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and St Ledger. Its a huge story here as it hasn't been won for so long. But the UK version hasn't been won since Lester Piggott on Nijinsky in 1970 and the one before that was in 1935!!! Not sure if its the same over there, but here if you win the first leg of the Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby, then you automatically go for the second and third leg, just that not many win all three!

It aint football Thurny, well not as we know it.

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Statesideowl - 07-06-2015

Nope, it's not football. I've had the chance to witness a few games so far.

Currently Germany V Ivory Coast. This is hilarious stuff.. I feel for Ivory Coast's keeper though, she is getting peppered!

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - St Charles Owl - 07-06-2015

Yes I am watching that game!! Its about as one sided as I have seen in a while, bit like watching Gibraltar or San Marino play the top European sides. Now 3-0 to Germany and should be 5 or 6 already!!! The Ivory Coast goalkeeper has made a couple of good saves but her positioning is awful!!!! Now 4-0!!

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Thurnscoe_OWL - 07-06-2015

Ist it a game of who's the fittest? cos most look like blokes anyway

RE: Thread For Anything But Football - Statesideowl - 07-06-2015

Would have to agree about the poor goalies positioning, she's the only one trying though!

4-0 after 30 mins. Could be on for a cricket score here.

England's ladies play France on Tuesday. Reckon I might tune in to see. They can't be worse than the England men?

5-0 Germany Big Grin

I don't think so, its just in this match the gulf in quality is huge!!  There are a couple of potential hotties on the German team and the US team look distinctly feminine!!!!

Games between the top teams such as Germany, USA, Japan and even England should be good competitive games. At the moment Women's Football is at the stage the men's game was 40-50 years ago where the African and most of the Asian teams are so far behind the European and North American teams!!
