RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - St Charles Owl - 20-05-2019 (20-05-2019, 21:10)Phil Penn Wrote:(20-05-2019, 13:16)4evaabaggie Wrote: In the interest of balance, not supporting his comment but relegated clubs have in the past, in the name of cost cutting, laid off backroom staff, you can do without a tea lady for example but you can't do without footballers ...... laying off backroom staff makes no sense because as you rightly say a footballer on 55 grand a week costs the same as three minimum wage staff do in a year ....... but as with politics scaremongering keeps the public worried and compliant. More to the point, if all of this is because the club are trying to stay within P&S limits, then the tea lady and all other General Staff do not count towards the 39m pound loss over three years. The only salaries included in this are the playing/coaching/football executive staff, not other employees of the company. The academy and all cost associated are also removed so its just the first team squad, plus ground improvements are also not included. As was said Dowling is right that you “should” not pay what it would cost to buy Gayle but this will only result in general staff redundancies if you simply cannot afford to pay the general staff, it has no nothing bearing on meeting the P&S stipulations!! Either he is making a political/populist statement or he doesn’t know the P&S rules or the club is financially unsound - the last two should worry you, the first suggests other things!! What ever way you look at his statement it's (lets be kind) the words of a ignorant man. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - Salopbaggie - 21-05-2019 Celtic apparently entertaining Harper with the VIP tour after their Scottish Premiership win, of course as an 'international' club they would only have to pay £235,000 in compensation. Albion have apparently tabled RH another, "take it or leave it" offer. What the **** is it with young players these days, as good as it is we may as well as scrap the academy and invest the money elsewhere if this continually keeps happening, then go poaching the same as everyone else seems to do, RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - Blue Baggie - 21-05-2019 (21-05-2019, 20:58)Salopbaggie Wrote: Celtic apparently entertaining Harper with the VIP tour after their Scottish Premiership win, of course as an 'international' club they would only have to pay £235,000 in compensation. Hi - this is the issue when you have good players in your academy or squad and your in the EFL - the rebuild plan is flawed without financial support. We would have probably invested 3 to 4 million on him over the years and he hasn't got the decency to repay us. I don't think he is the finished article yet. He has IMO had extra game time as a tempter to get him to sign, not just because of his ability. Its all about finances again at the end of the day and we can't compete. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - Slick_Footwork - 23-05-2019 So Dawson is one of the first to be linked with a move away, £15m to Burnley. Would be a shame to see him go as he's one of the old guard who was a consistent performer in our better recent years. On his day, he's the one defender we have who is genuine Premier League quality. The cross side of that is, he looked disinterested at times last season and often didn't have the same desire we have come to expect from him. He was outstanding in the playoffs, showing desire to score and defend, but that performance was the exception to the norm. Given the fact he wanted out last summer, I think entertaining the thought of keeping him isn't even worth discussion. £15m is a good offer for someone of his age and maybe Burnley will not be the only interested party, so we could get more. What worries me is our ability to replace him as he is a good all rounder and even chips in with some goals. You don't get much for the £2-£4m range, which is what I'd expect us to shell out. Judging on the quality of last season's defensive signings - Bartley and Townend - we're pretty woeful at identifying defenders. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - WBA-Josh - 23-05-2019 If Dawson goes and we appoint Bruno Labbadia, we could loan in Felix Uduokhai from Wolfsburg to replace him. He’s only 21 and plays for the German under-21’s. First made an impact with 1860 München during their relegation season in 2016/2017 and then got his move to Wolfsburg for under a million euros. Played 11 times in the league this season and has been behind Brooks, Knoche and Tisserand in the pecking order (nothing to scoff at considering Wolfsburg’s league finish). Can also play left back as well. Is of mixed German and Nigerian descent so will already speak English. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/felix-uduokhai/profil/spieler/278343 RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - 4evaabaggie - 23-05-2019 Josh sounds good, maybe a cheeky build of a couple million euros and we could sign him. Get more players around the 21 - 24 mark, decent manager, academy players and we could lift the title next May. Yes he’s 4th choice but he’s only 21 and has great potential for the future. Chuck in that he plays for the Germany under-21’s as well and our chances will be slim. A season loan however could be doable if we can guarantee proper play time for him (Labbadia in charge would) and pay some of his wages. It’ll be similar to that of Adarabioyo’s loan to us this season. RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - Beefy 1965 - 24-05-2019 Owner Guochuan Lai owes #wba £4.1m because of a loan he inherited from Jeremy Peace in the takeover https://t.co/PtUaYvH2qD Big stink on Twitter, we had to go into a over draft yet lie took a loan out fur 4 million against the club that the club can call in at any time Why the loan ? Why have we not called this in and pay Gayle's wages again, why the overdraft last year Being called out by shareholders as a fraud Good god what is happening to our club ?? RE: Summer Transfer Window 2019 - Players Released - talkSAFT - 24-05-2019 We'd never be in the crazy state we're in if Peace had kept his word that he'd only sell to the right Buyer. China won't allow Lai to take his money out of the country, and JP should have done some Due Diligence instead of taking the biggest offer, if he really cared. I wish he'd leave his castle, offer Lai half the £175m, and come back to run the Club again.....get rid of Jenkins/Dowling etc and offer Ashworth whatever he wants. You did a fantastic job, Jeremy, but if you're a true fan, come back and get us out of the mess you left us in. |
