It's what we all expected a makeshift team. With a run out for fringe players and youngsters. Most don't see us of progressing. Interestingly this is what our First team could be like this time next year. Food for thought?

Lets see them, before we have to think about it, who knows the current 'first' team might never get another game (doubtful mind Big Grin) . You can never under estimate the chance to prove yourself has on a player.

It's coming home lads, anyway quite a good performance, first time I've really seen Harper, and I'm impressed, excellent physically and very strong defensively, happy to put himself about and gets around the pitch well, promising prospect.

Out of ten what marks would you give the team, and who amongst the youngsters impressed you the most.

Good result 1-0

The game was a rather 'bitty', which is usually the case in the cup when both teams make so many changes. Wasn't much to watch really.

Thought overall we deserved to win, as we were the better side for most of the game. However, Wigan opened stronger and really should've been in front.

My ratings -

Bond - 8 - Didn't have a lot to do for most of the game, but saved a one on one with Grigg at 0-0 when Wigan were all over us.

Holgate - 8 - Looked like he will be a good addition, attacked well, tackled when needed, strong. Probably should've scored though.
Bartley - 7 - Thought he looked better on the right side of the central defence. Played some nice crossfield balls.
Adarabioyo - 6 - Got dragged out of position for the Grigg chance, but looked okay otherwise.
Townsend - 6 - Still not sure about him. Shows good glimpses, when he tries to inject some pace and get forward. Seems a bit erratic on the ball and with his passing though.

Brunt - 7 - Was the midfielder who imposed himself on the game for us and set up the goal. Faded towards the end.
Field - 5 - Not really sure what he brings if i'm honest. Covered ground but doesn't seem to do a lot else.
Harper - 7 - Was impressed with his overall game. Athletic and willing to get forward when we broke. Broke play up and passed neatly. Great weighted ball for Sake chance.

Leko - 6 - Showed some very nice touches but lacked composure at the 2 key moments - when through and when he could've set up a tap in. Has raw ability but needs to be calmer with his end product if he is to maje it.
Hoolahan - 8 - Man of the match for me. Might not have the legs, but was the best footballer on the pitch.
Sako - 6 - Goal is saving him from a lower rating as I thought he was poor overall. Made poor decisions when good passing opportunities were on and missed a one on one. His header for the goal was straight down the keeper's throat and probably should've been saved, but at least he showed the desire to get there.

----

Robson Kanu - 4 - One of his worst cameos. Only showed one neat turn in his 15 minutes, which followed by a shot he blazed over.
Edwards - 6 - Showed some nice touches but didn't get much of the ball.
Mozza - Only played 5 mins...
