RE: Caldwell Out - Devongone - 13-09-2017 I don't really mind the system. Lots of good teams play that way. Lots of managers are even difficult to shift from the system they choose. I just mind that we seem to people the system with players who are bound to have difficulty making it work. BUT:- First plus is we didn't play Evatt alongside Hird ....... how much more proof do we need that pace and a team that moves the ball about quickly will always rip them apart? Either or! Second plus is Lou Reed scored a goal, and it was a good one. For us and for his career he has to add in far more goals. You can be a twopenny-nothing pass, move and kick a few people midfielder in the lower reaches for a couple of years like Jak McCourt if you don't score, but for the Championship and higher you have to have a goal in you don't you? For us five should be an absolute minimum - he's an England age-group player. Third plus is we were at least willing to bench O'Grady and the attack sounded ........ well much the same. Fourth plus is we didn't actually lose. However I tended to agree when GC talked about the usefulness of a physical presence on signing CO'G. We have four quite big men who can play up front and played none of them. Long term I fear last night's attack would just get bullied. That would mean we couldn't hold the ball up front, our midfield would come under pressure and when it cracked the opposition would be all over our dodgy defence. So I don't think we were so much turning a corner as applying elastoplast. I suppose it might also be classified as further good news if Billy Kee's injury last night is going to keep him out on Saturday, unfortunately I think Accrington losing is the worst thing that could have happened last night. I think we might suffer for it. Coleman might well see a powder-puff attack and be clever enough to break us down very quickly. By the way I notice the report from Saturday on Alfreton's website gives man of the match to some bloke called, what was it now, oh yes unusual name ........... RICARDO GERMAN. Perhaps we could sign him. Apparently he's quite young. RE: Caldwell Out - Dancingwilldoit - 13-09-2017 Nah Dev, we don't need any more good young strong mobile strikers, we've got enough of them to loan them out to other clubs !!! |
