I do think Wilder and the Blades were over-enthusiastic about grabbin' Ched when they offered Brooks. But AC shouldn't allow fans to think it's a sealed deal when he KNOWS it isn't.
Now the lad is in sight of a Sheff Utd game he couldn't get near last season, Everton are coming in and he might end up proving himself all over again from behind their own good crop of young talent. As a former Man City reject, which chance should he now take?
Truth is instead of loaning-in Jay O'Shea for cameos and time on the bench, Chris Wilder should have been giving Brooks the chance to show what he finally did in Toulon. Imagine how much young talent never surfaces because it never makes a very conservatively-selected first team.
It also raises the question of why, when we were signing youngsters of unproven talent on loan last season, why we didn't take Brooks on loan then ....... It turns out he more than ready for his breakthrough. Mismanagement all round!
