RE: New Year's double header match thread - Lord Snooty - 02-01-2017 Bunn off. Lolley on. 57 mins. Whitehead on for Billing. Cracking shot from Kachunga. Keeper saves but it falls to Nahki Wells. 1-0 Hef on for Payne. Whoohoo! RE: New Year's double header match thread - ritchiebaby - 02-01-2017 Another excellent result for Town. We must surely be the form team over the last 5 or 6 games. RE: New Year's double header match thread - sloppyattheback - 02-01-2017 my JGB shpeel.... A terrible first 45, no pace in our passing nor adventure, some boos at ht though overall folk accepted 7 changes would disrupt our style somewhat. Wigan bossed first 20 mins and we barely threatened. Our reserve back 4 doing enough not helped by Billings booking early meant he couldnt risk tackling again lots of side and backwards severly lacked brave forward movement or that killer pass. Mooj quiet. Second half playing towards a near 4000 following ( was there really just 1 POTD gate open for what turned out to be 2000 cash payers?) we upped it a few % , got better when Lolley came on to give us something else, Payne busy all game. Mooj booked for hacking down Deano brought on to add the bite Billing didnt have and we got it forward more and looked more likely at least. Had 0 0 allover it in truth, they looked crap in the final 3rd - so its not just us. Fortunately early dementia set in with their 40 year old keeper and he inexplicably parried a shot high up to his left back towards the penalty spot where a very accepting Wells rammed home. Went both ends in the final 14 mins, we had a great chance for a 2nd but Wells weak pass was intercepted. Won ugly can only hope some of those on the bench or the likes of Schindler rested completely will be fresh whether they return for Vale or Wendy now, would like to see a stronger team on Sat and take the cup serious even if it impedes on the league with re-arranged midweek fixtures. Overall 7 points over the 3 festive games is excellent unbeated in 7 a fantastic run, right in the pack and giving us all real hope for the 2nd half of the season. RE: New Year's double header match thread - theo_luddite - 02-01-2017 Well, not the prettiest game I've ever seen. The BBC commentaty was moaning about the game at Boro' on the way to traffic jam town. I hope someone shows him a video of this one. It took as long to get to the ground from the motorway as it did to get to the motorway exit. Who the feck programmes their bloody traffic lights? Still, we got the 3 points back that they nicked at our place and we're still above the deluded one's up the road. ![]() Oh, just watched the highlights on Murdoch's website. About 20 seconds seems about right to be fair. RE: New Year's double header match thread - MNTerrier - 02-01-2017 Not every game will be a spectacle, sometimes you have to grind one out, especially against a team fighting for survival already . RE: New Year's double header match thread - theo_luddite - 02-01-2017 True. The queues for Mrs Tweedy's pies were an hour long too so I passed on that one. Saved some early evening indigestion. RE: New Year's double header match thread - Amelia Chaffinch - 03-01-2017 Just had a Leeds fan telling me it's galling that there are teams in the play-off positions that don't deserve to be there like what they do. Wonder who they are talking about? It's so bloody annoying when you are at work and have to keep your trap shut. ![]() RE: New Year's double header match thread - theo_luddite - 03-01-2017 The deluded one's don't take long to show up in the New Year do they? RE: New Year's double header match thread - MNTerrier - 04-01-2017 how does one decide who deserves to be there....last time i checked it wasnt the size of your club that counts its how many points you have. i would kindly point out to your coworker that's how football works RE: New Year's double header match thread - Amelia Chaffinch - 04-01-2017 I said the same the other day when a commentator said Barnsley were punching above their weight. Why? Any team can make it. |
