The way we have been playing the last three or four years I will happily take eight points from six games ......keep up this average at we're looking at about fifty points. Worrying thing is ..... We have not played any of the real big boys ..... Everton are a top seven side but not really one of the main six. Still concerned for this season ..... roll on January.

Not exactly brilliant today (which is really becoming our catchphrase), but it would have been harsh on us if we'd lost that. Stoke are really incredibly poor, and obviously I wish we'd applied a bit more pressure to them, but hey ho. Eight points on the board, and we should be looking to add to that next week.

I'm warming to Rondon. Initially thought he would be piss poor in a pub team but I was wrong. He could be Regis of his generation given the right service.

So the going down the studio during the match sort of worked again. We still haven't lost a game when I've done that lol! Superstitious moi? Wink My flat number is 13 so surely not Smile Anyway I have nothing to offer in terms of what we played like as the all new tight arse SS match choice is almost as pointless as scratch of the day
I really ought to ditch sky and save £45 a month which I can spend on beer at a pub watching the 4 or 5 times SS can be bothered to screen our team live but thinking about it why bother coz they always do that when were up against the arse manure liverfool etc etc and you know we haven't a black cats chance in hell of getting a result so why put myself through that either? In all honesty I've given up on caring if we play well coz the little I get to see of us makes no difference anyway. The one crumb of comfort is Big Ron rescued this one for us as I could see us choking all ends up for all the reasons mentioned in my previous post so i'm just pleased we didn't lose. I will say this however I am beginning to see what looks like a good strike partnership between Rondon and Chadli I had a feeling Rondon would come good this season as he showed glimpses last and now he's got a bit of experience I think that promise will come good. He does need the support and chadli has that bit of extra class to provide and score just look at the goals and assists from the shammers game and how chadli sprinted 92 yards to catch up with a very quick Rondon to be there for the pass and score. Thats what we have needed for a long time lets pray it continues and they stay injury free. We also have McClean Leko and Phillips with a bit of pace and morrison back for a bit of skill and passing ability so the midfield looks a bit stronger. How did we do defensively does Nyom look good anybody? Anyway at the end of the day we are in the top half after 6 games so its not all doom and gloom. Its a better start than many previous where we've been lounging in the bottom three.

Oh dear lord I've just seen the next 4 fixtures Its going to be a very interesting month that could make or break us :/

Given the situation with SB, I wonder, on reflection, whether we were too hasty to let Ideye Brown leave.
I didn't think we gave him enough time to adjust to the Prem and like Rondon, given a season he might have developed into the striker we want to play alongside Salomon although maybe they were too alike in style. Certainly a better bet than Lambert.

Tough yes but when the going gets tough .......... everything collapses. Not really .... usually when we think we're gonna get beat we pull out a result.

Four game s .... I predict 7 - 9 points with a defeat to the all conquering city. Here's hoping.

I like the look of Nyom (more importantly, so will Pulis!.....quite solid and reliable - better than Galloway), and I keep forgetting how good Morrison is - he s/b 1st choice.

What about my post straight after the game, which nobody's commented on:

"F***ing pathetic! Free kick in their half 93rd minute, and all our defenders stayed back. I'm happy with point, but isn't it worth a 2/1 gamble?"

The back 4 must have been ordered to stay on the 1/2 way line by Pulis. He was so terrified of losing the 1 point (and being sacked) that he gave away (the chance of) 2 points to save his skin. We're going to have to scramble for 2 points here and there until May, and Stoke were probably very vulnerable for the last 30 seconds. The coward!
Does anyone agree with that bit of safety-first?

RE: Stoke vs WBA - Match Thread - BaggieMan - 25-09-2016

Talksaft... you know my thoughts on Pulis' tactics - too defensively minded. It was the same in the away Sjoke fixture last season. They were down to 9 men after two red cards and what did we do ? park the bus once Rondon had scored and Sjoke were the better team from then on.

It will never be in Pulis' make up to attack anyone even if they are in a Sunday pub league but I agree with you Saft, we should have gone at them far more.
