I notice the arrogant one hasn't apologised yet for his awful dour team selection which basically cost us the game.

RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - 4evaabaggie - 21-12-2015

Was the selection awful? Same team had been four unbeaten against tough opposition, with a bit of composure could have been four unlikely if not entertaining victories, have stated on other posts Albion web site stated five players were ill overnight prior to game but had the desire to play, poor reffing lead to McLean having a hothead moment and I do not recall Pulis being arrogant at any time. Let's not throw sticks and stones but get behind the club we love until we are safe, once the season is dead, good or bad, then we can have a post mortem

So we shouldn't criticise until the off-season? Sorry but I'm going to call a negative team selection when I see one. TP is so risk-averse it hurts. Even when half the team are ill he isn't willing to make any changes. If he hadn't frozen out half the squad we'd have still been able to field a decent team of fully fit players.

RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - 4evaabaggie - 21-12-2015

May68, we have stated for several seasons that we lack pace and width, both needed for attacking football, this can not be changed in one window,, yes we can moan, we are becoming good at that, yes good players are not being selected but what is happening on the training pitch to cause this, the sulk we know about, CM by all accounts can not manage 90 minutes, injuries and suspensions disrupt the team.

My point was rather than keep bemoaning things that are not currently going to change, get behind the team, let's get us safe, give TP a little slack to mould a new squad, then and only then when our place next season is sorted can we judge the season. I am sure fans are not the only people that read theses sites ...... constant attacks on coaches, players and performances most surely filter through to the team and like you and i, if you are under a stream of verbal abuse / criticism then you will not give a 100%..

I want to be entertained ....... I live and work away so do not get to many games so I may be a bit out of order with my judgements but the poor football appears to be turning us into a bunch of whingers like those down the road at the custard bowl. Albion til I die

Craig Gardner was not part of team which went 4 unbeaten apart from the Liverpool game yet was brought back for a home
game against the mighty Bournemouth when Sessegnon should of started who was involved in that decent run(if Sessegnon
was fit for the bench then in my book he`s fit enough to start).

Craig Gardner played well in the Liverpool game and deserved his place in the starting line up.

I don't rate Gardner personally but also don't think the stick he gets is proportionate to how poorly some rate him imo. That said the bloke can't even cut a tree down in his own garden without pissing off his neighbours haha.

What irks me the most about our team selection against Bournemouth was including players that were ill on the night before the game. Surely we have enough cover to not risk playing someone who isn't 100%?

RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - BaggieBishop - 21-12-2015

Pulis will, like the leopard, never change his spots and will sadly always continue to play in a negative defensive style come what may.  We were warned by some contributors on this site and it is proving true with us becoming the new Stoke City who we all despised..

I agree that Pulis is stubborn and arrogant and I do fear for our future

RE: Why some fans hate Tony Pulis - drewks - 21-12-2015

I must be in the minority - I LIKE TONY PULIS!!

I don't find him at all arrogant; IMO his press conferences are a breath of fresh air compared to the bland, characterless, say-nothing type of the vast majority of PL managers. I also find him honest, not blind to the fact that his players CAN sometimes not do the right thing.

I'm not blind to his faults - I am just as exasperated as anyone when he sticks rigidly to a more defensive approach; when he plays players out of position, when he doesn't play a more attacking player when it's crying out for him to do so.
But these are opinions. His is obviously different to mine, and a lot of others.
He picks a team not to lose first, sure - but obviously his huge priority is to get enough points to keep us in the PL. He obviously believes that this is best achieved by firstly having a very strong defence. I, and a lot of you, would like him to be (much) more expansive, but this is his way, and that's why JP appointed him.
I realise that TP is doing his best for our club; quite honestly, reading some comments on here, it seems like some folk think he's deliberately picking the wrong team - ie picking a team to lose!

As has been said many times on here, who else is there that could do a better job at a club of our size? We are so much better off now than when he joined us, and it's baffling to me that so many just can't, or won't, see that.

Step back and let the flack fly!! Sick Doh

You're a brave man with that post Drewks. I can hear the torch and pitchfork brigade approaching already...

Pulis and Allardyce are wank biscuits and I seriously believe this is the season that the dinosaurs get relegated.
