As from Christmas I will rename it something fitting and hopefully you will find if you can some comfort from your fellow participants. As most of you know we have been looking for a way to honor madsteve in a permanent manner befitting his contributions to not only this site but the BBC606 and New606 sites, thank you to all those who made suggestions. I personally cannot think of a better way of doing this than renaming the current prediction league The Madsteve Prediction League!! Not only has he won it before but predicting sports results has been his livelihood as well, as demonstrated on the Gambling Thread, so i think this not only gives us a way of saying thanks but is the perfect way to carry his name on into the future. Thank you to South Wales Owl for this suggestion, the renaming will happen from the next set of predictions before the Xmas games. Madsteve, as you know, I was keen for you to still be posting on here when we made this small gesture to you and I hope you feel some pride in it and it brightens up your day. Obviously as you are the current leader you are once again setting the standard for us all to try to emulate but don't think for one minute that we will take it easy on you, you will need to earn the title this season just like in other seasons, so make sure you stick around until the end of the season to give yourself a chance of another win!! RE: Madsteve - silverbaggie - 08-12-2015 MadSteve I really feel for you even tho we have never met or are never likely to. What can I say as we approach a time of the year when all is meant to be wonderful and happy and full of expectations for our loved ones. Many years ago I had the pleasure of working with a Wednesday supporter at a Company in South Wales. He was the salt of the earth and forever re-living the glory days that Wednesday had enjoyed in bygone years. You and your fellow supporters have waited longer than most for the good times to return and a Premiership without your great Club is incomplete. Chin up my friend, at times like this, true supporters of the wonderful game will always rally around one of their own. ![]() ![]() RE: Madsteve - talkSAFT - 08-12-2015 Steve, Your mission (before The Final Whistle), should you wish to accept it, is to go and kiss as many Blades fans as you can find!!! ![]() RE: Madsteve - bomberbrown1968 - 09-12-2015 I can only echo the sentiments of all that's been said and the comments I've read suggest you're a top bloke. I wish you all the best and hope you can fight this god damn disease for as long as you're strong enough and able to do so. I don't know you but the fact that you're a football fan the same as me is enough to give us a mutual bond, Wednesday & The Baggies shared Brunty, Megson, Varadi, Watson & Palmer to name just a few and we also share a dislike for your neighbours. Up the Owls for the rest of the season mate hope they can give you something back for all you've given them. Thoughts are with you and your family at this awful time. I now live in Shropshire so have quite a few Baggie mates. I consider a goal by Bomber Brown to be the best ever scored against Wednesday in a cup tie in the late 60s. Palmer & Brunt are two of my favourite all time OWLS and I always look out for ex OWLS & wish Brunty well. RE: Madsteve - BaggieMan - 09-12-2015 Madsteve God bless you mate - you, your family, your friends are in our thoughts and prayers. ![]() RE: Madsteve - talkSAFT - 09-12-2015 (09-12-2015, 00:53)madsteve Wrote:(09-12-2015, 00:06)bomberbrown1968 Wrote: I can only echo the sentiments of all that's been said and the comments I've read suggest you're a top bloke. RE: Madsteve - BottesfordOwl - 10-12-2015 Madsteve So very sorry to hear this mate, your prediction skills, quizzes and knowledge about the massive have brightened some of the dullest times as an Owl - not that I have had many of those in my short time as an Owl, as I have only been watching them since 1968 and its all been sweetness and light hasn't it?? I hope you see us in the Prem - maybe those of us getting new shirts should have your seat number on the back...if we all put your prediction position it will look like we are nothing but a team of Goalkeepers. I for one wont give up trying in the prediction league, but I hope sincerely you can laugh at the rest of us at the end of the season having been crowned champ again. Reading all the messages, shows the amount of respect and warmth that you have generated with your fantastic knowledge and insight. I thought I knew a fair bit about my team but I know I am just a novice by comparison. You are one of the undoubted stars of this Site, keep your chin up. Like others have already posted, the eyes are a bit moist, probably the dust from Scunthorpe Steelworks...honest. I don't often post apart from the prediction league, as I don't get to as many games as I used to because of work and family so this Site is fantastic for me to hear all the great opinions and speculation - and to get the real opinions of those that matter - fans rather than journalists who don't know the difference between Helan and Joao, and it is one of my treasures of the internet. May your God go with you and bless you mate - together with your family and friends who will be in our thoughts too. Good Luck and Best Wishes Mick - exiled in Sunny Scunny - a part of which is now "Forever Owl" RE: Madsteve - Imre varadi - 13-12-2015 Just to remind everyone that señor ms is still battling with this and we or i havnt all forgotten like yesterdays match thread! and we all wish him well and are thoughts are with him always and all through the coming months and he is much more important than football ![]() |
