Thought we bossed the first 30 minutes or so last night but as soon as Hull equalized we lost all our shape and rhythm. Tommy Lee didn't look fit and was avoiding kicking anything which kept playing us into trouble. Some interesting switches in formation started 4-2-3-1 then tried 4-4-2 and finished 3-5-2 which just didn't seem to work. Banks was just far too casual and showed that he is no partner for Morsy in centre mid. Blake looked like he could do with losing another couple of stone before the season starts but still did enough to encourage me for the coming season.
Donahue and Orrell came on and looked usefull. Orrell looked very quick and Donahue played some decent balls but not sure what position he would normally play.
Cracking header from Evatt then 2 clinical finishes from Hull and a cock up between Jones and Lee gift wrapped the third. The bad news for the night was Jones going off injured but at least Drew was training and exercising so should be back soon.

Thanks Dancing, more than interesting appraisal. Darikwa's precision cross for the goal somehow was edited out ...... couldn't resist that.

Don't like the sound of Lee, or Banks, or Ebanks-Blake for that matter (exactly what themaclad from Preston said about him - needs to lose weight). Banks should be the natural partner for Morsy, where else could he play, but if he won't put in the effort, he's heading for the bench and we desperately need to bring in a first choice from somewhere.

Hull aren't that good, as they proved all last season.

OK Dev, "with an assist from Darikwa" - is that good enough? Tell you what though it was a bullet header from the edge of the area from Evatt. We haven't seen many headed goals this last year or so.
Looks like Darikwa may be on his way anyway. Radio Sheff reporting an offer from Wigan but rumor has it Preston are the ones after him. Either way the bid doesn't sound as if it meets CFC expectations but it looks as though he wants away and its probably to the North West.
Banks is just frustrating. He has the skill but just seems to switch off at times giving the ball away in bad positions and doesn't make any attempt to recover it.
Morsy put in a double shift last night. If he hadn't we would have struggled. Hull didn't look a bad side at all in the second half.

Wouldn't have liked you to have missed the last of Tendayi's precision crosses Dancing.

Evatt is another of our players who should be scoring more goals. He's genuinely dangerous in dead ball situations. I'd tell him he needs to get 5+ goals this season, something he could easily achieve.

To say It was a friendly I thought Hull looked really up for it especially second half and were certainly better than Aston Villa last year. They had some expensive players out there so it would be harsh to criticise town too much even though Dancing's assessment was spot on, we were poor second half or made to look poor.Time will tell.
I won't judge a 3-1 defeat to Hull just like we shouldn't judge a 4-0 victory against Buxton.
The time to judge will be August 8th onwards.

RE: Summer Friendlies 2015 - spireitematt - 23-07-2015

1 game against Barnsley will be difficult to judge if we go up, go down or finish mid-table. 10-12 games you can sort of judge where you'll finish but even that's difficult. It doesn't matter how you start but how you finish which counts.

Of course you're right Matt but generally it doesn't take me long to decide figure which direction we are going .
