Edun, 26, arrives on a permanent deal from Charlton Athletic, while 27-year-old Hughes moves to London Road on loan from Stockport County. Former Leicester City development squad player Hughes has featured 13 times for the Hatters since joining them from Burton Albion last summer. Edun has made 37 appearances for the Addicks across all competitions, having moved to the Valley from Blackburn in July 2023. Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson said the duo are both players he has tried to sign in the past. Ferguson's side possess the worst defensive record in League One with 46 goals conceded in 24 games. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 07-05-2025 David Ajiboye has been released by Peterborough United following his loan spell at Newport County. The 26-year-old scored twice in 21 appearances for Newport after joining on loan in January. He is now available on a free transfer having scored four goals in 73 games for Posh since joining them from Sutton United in 2022. In March, then Exiles boss Nelson Jardim said Ajiboye "ticks all the boxes" at League Two level. Jardim said he hoped Ajiboye would return to Rodney Parade, but it remains to be seen whether Newport – who are currently managerless - will look to sign the former Brighton youngster on a permanent deal. Peterborough United have cancelled the contract of goalkeeper Jed Steer at his request. The former Aston Villa keeper had another 12 months left on the deal he signed last summer but wants to leave for "personal reasons". He saved two penalties against Wrexham to help Posh reach this season's EFL Trophy final at Wembley, and kept a clean sheet when they beat Birmingham City in the final to make it back-to-back wins in the competition. A new contract has been offered to defender Tayo Edun, who joined them in January after leaving Charlton Athletic and scored twice in 17 appearances. But goalkeeper Nicholas Bilopkapic has been made available for transfer, along with former Colchester striker Bradley Ihinovien, full-back Jack Sparkes and striker Jacob Wakeling. The club have confirmed that highly-rated winger Kwame Poku, forward Ricky-Jade Jones and midfielder Hector Kyprianou, who scored the second goal in the 2-0 win over Birmingham, will all leave the club when their contracts expire. Posh will be entitled to tribunal compensation for Poku and Jones, who both came through their academy. Meanwhile, winger David Ajiboye and striker Kabongo Tshimanga have both been released, having ended the season on loan at Newport County and Swindon Town. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 29-05-2025 Peterborough United have made their first signing of the summer after agreeing a deal to bring in Braintree forward Kyrell Lisbie. The 21-year-old has signed a three-year contract, which includes the option of an additional year. Lisbie scored 13 goals for National League Braintree this season, having joined them from eighth-tier Cray Valley Paper Mills last summer. It was during Cray Valley's run to the FA Cup first round in November 2023 that Lisbie came to prominence, scoring a penalty in their eventual 6-1 defeat in a replay against Charlton. "Kyrell is a player that we have kept an eye on for the last few months," Posh boss Darren Ferguson said. "We have had some very impressive reports on him as well and we are pleased to get the deal done. "He can play in different positions along the front line so that gives us good flexibility and I am looking forward to working with him." The 23-year-old had spells in the youth set-ups at Chelsea and Aston Villa before moving to Spain in 2023 to play for Valencia's reserve side. He joined Thun last summer and helped them win promotion to the Swiss Super League, but has now agreed a three-year deal with Posh. "We were aware for a while that we needed a right winger, because we knew that Kwame (Poku) would be leaving," said manager Darren Ferguson. "There were other clubs in for him in higher leagues, but I think he has seen what we do as a club and I can't wait to start working with him." Frith is Peterborough's second summer signing following forward Kyrell Lisbie from National League club Braintree Town. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 16-06-2025 Peterborough United striker Ricky-Jade Jones has joined Bundesliga side St Pauli following the expiration of his contract. He has since gone on to make 203 senior appearances for the Posh, scoring 43 goals. Jones lifted the EFL Trophy twice with his boyhood club, starting both matches and providing the assist for captain Hector Kyprianou's second goal in their 2-0 victory over League One title-winners Birmingham City in April. "Joining this club as a nine-year-old boy, I didn't realise the impact it would have on my life," Jones posted on his Instagram account., external "I just want to say thank you to the gaffer, the staff, my team-mates and everyone associated within the club for believing in me on my journey. "To all the fans that stuck with me, thank you so much for giving me that extra bit of strength week in, week out, I truly am so thankful for that. "Representing this club will always mean the most to me and my family." St Pauli finished 14th in Germany's top flight last season, three points clear of the division's relegation play-off place. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 25-06-2025 Peterborough United have re-signed Stockport County defender Sam Hughes for an undisclosed fee. The 28-year-old, who made 19 appearances for Posh during a loan spell last season, has agreed a three-year contract. He added stability to boss Darren Ferguson's defence in the second half of the League One campaign, enabling them to stave off the threat of relegation and finish 18th. "It is still a young group that we have and he brings a lot of leadership qualities, but he is also a very good defender," Ferguson said. "He has a good understanding of how we play, which is important, so I think he is a big signing for us. He is very vocal on the pitch and that will help the others. "We have worked really hard to get it over the line and I am delighted." Hughes, who joined Stockport from Burton Albion last summer, scored his only Peterborough goal so far in a 3-0 win over Charlton in March. He is their second signing of the summer transfer window following winger Declan Frith, from Swiss club FC Thun. Hughes said: "I know what the manager expects and I think I actually played some of the best football in my career when I was here last season, so hopefully that can continue. "It is not just about playing games, I have come here to be successful." Peterborough United have signed midfielder Brandon Khela from Birmingham City on a four-year deal. Posh have paid an undisclosed fee for the 20-year-old, who has been with Blues since the age of seven. Coventry-born Khela made his Birmingham debut in August 2023 and played his first league game two months later before joining Scottish Premiership side Ross County on loan for the rest of the 2023-24 season. After six more appearances for Blues at the start of last term in League One, Khela went on loan to Bradford City for the last four months of the campaign, playing 15 times as the Bantams won automatic promotion from League Two. "I think he is going to be a really good player, he is an excellent signing for the football club," Posh boss Darren Ferguson said., external "He has been with Birmingham City for most of his life, he had a loan stint at Bradford City last season, played 15 times and I like the fact he played for a team that had to win every week. You have to do that at Bradford and of course they went on to gain promotion. "I know there were other clubs interested, but the chairman has managed to get this done and I am delighted." Khela's deal runs until the summer of 2029 and has an option for a further year. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 01-07-2025 Peterborough United have signed goalkeeper Alex Bass from League Two side Notts County on a three-year deal. Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson described Bass - who also has an option in his new contract for a further 12 months - as "an important signing" after agreeing to release experienced former Aston Villa shot-stopper Jed Steer for "personal reasons" in May. "I believe he will be a really good signing; he has a good presence, a good size, is mobile and outstanding with his feet," Ferguson told the club website., external Notts County owners Chris and Alex Reedtz, who are on the technical committee at Notts alongside head coach Martin Paterson, said the club are searching to "adequately replace" Bass as their number one after their target price for the player was met by the Posh. "While it was never our intention or desire to sell Alex during this transfer window, following strong negotiations we have agreed terms which match our high valuation of him," the Reedtz brothers told the Notts website. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 23-07-2025 Peterborough United have signed Walsall centre-back David Okagbue for an undisclosed fee. The 21-year-old has agreed a four-year deal with Posh after making 54 appearances for the Saddlers last season and scoring two goals. Okagbue is Peterborough's sixth summer signing as they look to improve on last season's disappointing 18th-place finish in League One. "He is at a good age with lots of room for improvement and development. What he will add is pace and physicality to our defensive unit, which is something that I was looking for," said boss Darren Ferguson. Okagbue began his career at Stoke City and had loans spells with Oldham and Walsall before joining the latter on a permanent basis last summer. "I have had two seasons with Walsall and played a lot of games. I felt the time was right to step into League One," he said. He continued: "Harley has been excellent throughout pre-season and we look forward to working with him over a long period of time." Mills said Peterborough's track record of developing young players was a deciding factor when signing the new deal. RE: Posh News - themaclad - 01-08-2025 Peterborough United have signed Norwich City goalkeeper Vicente Reyes on loan until January. The 21-year-old has played four times for the Canaries, making his debut in a Championship game against Oxford United in March.
