RE: Bristol City News - themaclad - 23-12-2025 Championship side Bristol City have agreed a deal to sign free agent Sam Morsy on an initial six-month contract. The 34-year-old midfielder had joined Kuwait FC on a two-year agreement in the summer, but the contract was cancelled in September after playing just three games. Prior to that, the Egypt international had captained Ipswich Town to consecutive promotions from League One, through the Championship and into the Premier League. Kieran McKenna's side finished 19th in the table and suffered immediate relegation back into the second tier. Bristol City are ninth in the Championship, two points adrift of a play-off spot but have experienced a number of injury issues, particularly in central midfield. Joe Williams has not played since last season's play-off semi-final first leg against Sheffield United because of an ankle injury and is not expected back until January. Max Bird has suffered a fresh setback concerning his calf problem while captain Jason Knight has only recently returned from a groin injury. Head coach Gerhard Struber has also been forced to play centre-back Zak Vyner in midfield on occasions. The club have an option of extending Morsy's deal by 12 months at the end of the season. RE: Bristol City News - themaclad - 09-01-2026 Bristol City forward Olly Thomas has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension with the Championship side. The 20-year-old has also agreed a loan deal to Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic that will run until the end of the season. Bristol City have confirmed the signing of free agent Sam Morsy on a six-month deal until the end of the season. The move, reported last month, sees the former Ipswich midfielder return to football for the first time since September after his two-year contract with Kuwait FC was cancelled. The 34-year-old captained Ipswich Town to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League, before leaving the Tractor Boys this summer. Bristol City have also signed winger Ranel Young to their under-21 academy on a deal until the summer of 2027. The 19-year-old joins from Serbian side Usce but began his career in Liverpool's academy and featured 20 times for the Reds' Premier League 2 team last season, scoring four goals with a further two assists. "Ranel is a versatile player with a lot of talent, and we are excited for him to join our under-21s set up," Tinnion said. "He adds quality and has a host of potential in the game." |
