Stevenage have signed striker Brandon Hanlan on loan from League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers for the rest of the season.

The 27-year-old has scored twice in 13 appearances this season for the Chairboys after a year's absence because of a knee injury.

He joins a Stevenage side that are 15th in the table, but who won their past two games, including a 3-2 victory at promotion-chasing Wrexham.

He is Boro's first signing of the January transfer window, having previously played for Charlton Athletic, Gillingham and Bristol Rovers.

"This is a brilliant opportunity for Brandon to play regular football in League One and help him get back to his best following his lengthy absence," said Wycombe's chief football officer Dan Rice.

"Our options in attack mean that his game time here has been limited but we're excited to see what he can do at Stevenage and wish him every success during his loan."

Stevenage are at home to Exeter City on Saturday.

Stevenage left-back Dan Butler has signed a "new, extended and improved" contract with the League One club.

The 30-year-old has made 75 appearances for Boro, 38 of them this season, since arriving for Peterborough United in the summer of 2023.

Butler began his career at Portsmouth and has also had spells with Torquay United and Newport County.

Stevenage finished 14th this season under boss Alex Revell with 57 points from their 46 games, 11 points clear of the relegation places.

Stevenage have released Jake Forster-Caskey following the expiry of the midfielder's contract.

The 31-year-old moved to the Lamex Stadium from Charlton Athletic in January 2023, and he headlines a list of four first-team players who will the leave the League One club.

Forward Kyle Edwards, defender Kane Smith and midfielder David Hicks also depart.

Nick Freeman and Elliott List remain in negotiations over a new deal to stay at the club beyond the summer.

Stevenage striker Jamie Reid has agreed an "improved and extended" contract with the League One club.

The 30-year-old scored nine goals in 49 appearances this season as Boro finished 14th in the table under boss Alex Revell.

He first joined the club from Mansfield Town in the summer of 2021 following spells at Exeter City and Torquay United.

Reid has 55 goals in 197 games for Stevenage and is seventh on their all-time scorers' list.

Plymouth Argyle midfielder Jordan Houghton has turned down the chance to stay at Home Park and opted to sign for fellow League One side Stevenage.

The Pilgrims said that they had offered the 29-year-old an opportunity to extend his time at the club but he "opted to pursue another challenge".

Houghton made 184 appearances during his time at Plymouth through two spells, scoring two goals and registering 10 assists.

This season he made 32 appearances in all competitions as Plymouth were relegated to League One.

In the two campaigns previous he was a regular name on the team sheet as the Pilgrims won promotion to the Championship.

Houghton came through Chelsea's academy and he had spells at Doncaster Rovers and MK Dons before a move to Devon in 2021.

Stevenage have signed defender Saxon Earley after he left fellow League One side Plymouth Argyle.

The 22-year-old returns to the Lamex Stadium on a permanent deal after a loan spell with the club in 2022.

He is the second player to swap Plymouth for Stevenage in a week following midfielder Jordan Houghton on Friday.

Earley joined the Pilgrims in January 2023 and made 11 appearances in his first season, scoring twice, before spending 2024-25 on loan with Lincoln and Wycombe.

He played 27 times for Stevenage during their promotion-winning campaign to League One during a loan spell from former club Norwich City.

Stevenage have signed winger Chem Campbell from Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers as their third recruit of the transfer window.

Campbell spent last season on loan with Reading, scoring seven goals in 42 appearances, following previous loan spells with Wycombe and Charlton.

He became the second youngest player to appear for Wolves in the club's history when he made his debut in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa in 2019, aged 16.

Now 22, he follows former Plymouth pair Jordan Houghton and Saxon Earley in agreeing a permanent deal with Boro this summer.

Stevenage finished 14th in League One last season, five places lower than in 2023-24, but 11 points clear of the relegation places.

The League One club have not disclosed the length of Campbell's contract.

Stevenage have signed winger Phoenix Patterson from Fleetwood Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old came through the youth systems at Wycombe Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford before making his professional debut with Irish side Waterford four years ago.

Patterson has joined the League One club after spending the past two and a half seasons with Fleetwood, making 104 appearances and scoring seven times.

He becomes the fourth new signing by Stevenage this summer following the arrivals of midfielder Jordan Houghton and defender Saxon Earley from Plymouth Argyle and Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Chem Campbell.

Meanwhile, the Cod Army have given a short-term contract to defender Harrison Holgate.

The 24-year-old, who has made 83 appearances for the club, is still returning to fitness after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Stoke City last September.

Stevenage have signed Beryly Lubala after the forward was released by League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers, along with defender Jasper Pattenden.

Lubala, 27, scored 10 goals in 35 appearances for the Chairboys last term, although four of those came in an EFL Trophy group-stage win against Brighton & Hove Albion's Under-21 side.

Having started his career with Birmingham City, he had joined Wycombe midway through the previous season from Burton Albion.

Pattenden, 23, was still under contract at Wycombe and Stevenage say the two clubs "agreed terms" for the deal to go through.

He spent part of his early career in the academy at Brighton and made 19 appearances for the Chairboys last season.

Stevenage have signed former Arsenal youth midfielder Mathaeus Roberts on a permanent contract following a trial spell at the League One club.

The 20-year-old has been given an undisclosed-length deal after scoring five times in four pre-season friendly matches.

Roberts progressed through the Gunners youth sides, representing the club at under-18 level, before joining Ipswich Town, where he played for their under-21s.

He becomes Stevenage's seventh signing of the summer as boss Alex Revell reshapes his squad for the new campaign, which begins at Blackpool on Saturday, 2 August.
