RE: New manager then ? - Devongone - 03-02-2022 My team's manager is currently suspended for offences known or unknown which remain under investigation. I would sooner take that for the rest of the season than the offer of Stevie Bruce. Nothing breaks the spirit of WBA and their fans, that's why they remain popular among the supporters of other teams, I hope this disloyal, second-class man does not prove to be the straw that finally broke ........... Genuine good wishes. At least you'll be able to have a new theme tune ......... Heaven knows I'm miserable now ............. There are mistakes. There's appointing Cyril Smith to run your Food Bank. There's inviting Roy Keane for interview and offering him a prawn sandwich. There's signing David Goodwillie. And then there's this. Oh well. Let's all give him a chance..... RE: New manager then ? - Slick_Footwork - 03-02-2022 Bruce done and dusted then. I'll be honest, he wouldn't have been my choice. Probably not even in my top 50... But to try to be balanced and find the positives... He does know what it takes to get out of his league. He's got a more pragmatic style, so it means tweaks to our current setup rather than wholesale changes. Fair enough he's not noted for particularly good football, but I do believe we will be better to watch than under Ismael. While I'd have loved us to pick someone who plays open and expansive football, I'm not sure we've got the players so with the window closed, this might be a more sensible short term appointment. He's on a shorter term deal so if he doesn't improve us we can easily make a change in the summer and give a manager with a different style the entire summer window. If he does exceed my expectations, then that's a bonus. Plus it can't possibly be as bad as it was getting under the previous regime! Makes even less sense about Snodgrass going now, because he performed pretty well for Bruce in the Championship. Shame about that one. Regarding The Snod - isn't he just a free agent now so we could actually re-sign him....? RE: New manager then ? - Blue Baggie - 03-02-2022 As an fan for a long time (far to long) I will give SB a chance. I'm sure we will improve but how much is the question. A change from 3-4-3 and substitutions after 60 minutes may have the opposition in a mess. Can't be certain, but I presume we would've had to pay him to leave so he accepted breaking the contract early? Mental really when it was 2 days before Val's sacking. Unless he was injured or had done something really bad behind the scenes, doesn't make sense. But unless he agreed to break his contract for nothing, I can't see us re-signing him. |
