I don't know if I want him to stay or go, but either way I'm not sure our owners care enough to sack him.

Today's mistakes IMO
Formation changed
Phillips at LWB
Gibbs on the bench
Diangana on the bench
Robinson subbed
Gallagher subbed

I don't have a lot of hope in the hierarchy's ability to recruit either, unfortunately.

But I'm not willing to submit to relegation yet, before mid December, despite the fact it looks inevitable. I think persisting with Bilic would be that submission.

If we were to keep him come what may and we were relegated, I wouldn't be confident he could recreate our success of last season anyway. This is based on the fact that post lockdown, we could barely win in the Championship. Push come shove, the reality is that we bottled it in the must win games against Huddersfield and QPR and only went up because Brentford suffered the same mental breakdown in their last 2 games.

I also think there is evidence of him losing the dressing room. His harsh public criticism isn't the way to manage a modern day footballer. Especially our soft lot.

For me, the sooner he goes, the better. Franky, I'd take anyone over him right now. I think the lads need a fresh start and it couldn't get any worse.

My choice would be Allardyce. Okay, he falls into the dinosaur category, but we're in a desperate situation and he knows how to keep a team in this league. He's done it time and time again, could hit the ground running with his experience of the Premier League and is available immediately. This team is so soft in the centre, I think we need someone with that nasty edge to convert this lot into grinders. Wouldn't want him long term, just until the end of the season.

What would be a disaster would be a move for a Pepe Mel type, someone who doesn't know the league, can't speak the language and is expected to get the team to play their way out of this position. I think we have seen that these lot aren't good enough to outplay teams at this level. We need a Plan B, something different to what Bilic has served up.

And for anyone worrying about ruining the style of play, I wouldn't be too concerned given the fact we are about as entertaining as watching paint dry under the current regime. I think the argument about keeping Slav because the football is good is becoming defunct given we have scored the same amount of goals in 12 games as what we scored under Pulis in 17/18. There's a strong argument for this being the worst West Brom team in Premier League history, given that in previous years we could at least attack or defend. This team can't do either. Even the Gary Megson teams of the early 2000's that were built on a shoestring at least had the guts to compete and some pattern of play.

How about Patrick Vieira? He's recently left Nice after 2 and a half seasons and obviously knows the Premier League as a player. If he coaches the way that he played, then our lightweight players will recieve a right, good kicking.

I think if the trigger is pulled then it'll be between Eddie Howe and Marco Silva.

I don't really follow Ligue 1 enough to know how well or badly Vieira did with Nice. I know he was sacked after a bad run this year, but not sure what cards he was dealt. Probably would prefer someone with Premier League management experience, but on paper his character would fit the bill.

Silva would be a popular choice for me after Allardyce. His work at Hull and Watford, initially, was impressive. He was undone at Everton with some poor spending but who knows if that was down to him or the director of football. Everton is a role that plenty of managers seem to fail to meet expectations in. So I can't hold this against him.

I still think Allardyce's CV is unrivalled as far as keeping teams up goes though. He's done it with Blackburn, Sunderland, Palace. From what I remember, Silva inherited Allardyce's Everton team and they finished in a similar position. So I guess Allardyce's work was more impressive given he inherited them on a terrible run mid season and Silva was only able to match him with a full pre-season and season.

As for Howe, personal opinion is that I don't fancy him at all. I always felt he was a lucky manager with Bournemouth and some of his unproven big money signings like Ibe, Billing, Lloyd Kelly, Solanke and Danjuma showed a lack of common sense and eye for a player. Ake was the one big money signing who come good and yielded a profit, but the rest were pretty much failures at Premier League level. I think people often fail to realise the huge amounts of cash he spent at Bournemouth but these guys were all £15-£20m players. Then you've got Lerma who was around £30m if I remember rightly. I don't think Lerma was so much of a failure as he was pretty much ever present, but he was never worth that cash.

So Howe wouldn't be on the radar for me. That said, at this point, I'd take anyone. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, so maybe Howe would be okay.

As a completely outside choice, how's about Arsene Wenger on a short term deal? Always seemed good at developing and trusting youth. Or is he happy living the easy life working for FIFA?

IMO I believe Sb`s contract runs out at the end of this season. This tightwad owner won`t want to sack him and pay out so we will be stuck with him. Unless he walks, and I don`t expect that to happen.

DD Cool Cool

Ever since the Hegazi sale, it was clear we have no money at all, so you might be right that we can't afford to pay him off.

That said, it's a lot more affordable to pay someone off on a short term deal. Surely the purse strings will stretch?

Guess we will see on Monday...

For those who are still convinced Bilic is a good manager.
A Irvine managed 22 games won 5 drew 6
S Bilic's last 22 games has won 3 drawn 6

Nice finished 7th and then 6th in Ligue 1 with Vieira. His record was 35 wins from 89 matches and 33 defeats. Points per game was 1.42. That is a decent record. This season it all went wrong after they lost 6-2 to Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League. 2 wins and 1 draw from the next 8 did him in.

When focusing solely on Premier League experience Marco Silva would be my first choice.

So many opinions, but lets be honest we could sack SB 10 times and it would not fix our problems. Firstly, we are a year ahead of schedule in the grand plan, the team is like one of those Spanish hotels in the seventies, open for business, but with building work going on all over it. Lets not forget the way SB has been undermined by the owner and board throughout, yes they got him the loans from last season plus Grant and the old man, but I would bet SB's shopping list was a lot longer than that. Then they go selling first team players without his knowledge.

People seem to forget at the start of the season we were all complaining about the positions which needed strengthening and they still have not been, so in reality we are playing with a team that could not win the Championship plus Grant and the old man, who with respect Harry Kane is not going to lose to much sleep about being challenged for his job and as for Ivanovic he was a world class player, emphasise on 'was'.

As good as Bilic is, he is not Jesus who apparently could feed 5,000 with 5 loaves and 2 fish and the problems we have now, are still the same as when we were talking about them pre-season, we are short of quality in some positions, more importantly now, the players we do have, are running on zero confidence. Understandable when you are facing some teams who have players who are worth around the same value as our entire squad, you keep losing and you know that the only way you stand any chance of competing with teams like that is with a good balance in your squad and a bit of luck. We have neither.

We also need to be honest about who we would and could get to replace SB, we are not going to get anyone of proven quality, unless Sir Alex decides to make a comeback. We will end up sacking a manager who may be able to do something and replace them with who? What is the point of thinking ""well they might do a better job", if you can not replace SB with someone who, given all the restraints of being the manager of West Bromwich Albion, you can put your hand I your heart and say "I really believe this person could do a better job" then what is the point? As my grannie used to say "Be careful you ain't jumping out the frying pan into the fire".
