I don’t want to be picky but the only mistake with what Percy has said is that Labbadia has left Wolfsburg. His contract doesn’t run out until the end of June so he’s still a Wolfsburg employee until then, at which point we can then bring him in on a free.
Anyway, I’ll put my Sheldon hat to one side and say I really hope the talks go well and he’s interested in coming to us. The easier option for him is Hamburg but he’s been there twice already and been sacked twice so if he fancies a change of scenery, we’re a good club for him as long as the club give him proper funding.
Hopefully no more 35 year old free agents.
It's what we need, but with the size of the rebuild every day is precious, if we do what we did last year and with no Gayle or Johansen & Holgate we are on a massive challenge to overcome. Like I said every day is precious. Dowling is doing a brilliant job. Give him a chance I heard people say. Dump him I say he's done nothing and all I hear is talk. To have not signed anyone is a measure of how useless he is or Jenkins has him in a headlock either way he he ain't no use to us. We need fkn action man now, with eagle eyes if need be. Get on with the rebuild FFS.

Stage 1 is finding a new Head Coach. Then we can move onto stage 2 and signing and selling players.
We can’t get to stage 2 without completing stage 1 first.

Normally yes, but as Dowling is making the decisions why can't we go to stage 2 ?

Because then the club is signing players for a Head Coach that is not even at the club yet. That isn’t the correct way of doing things.
What happens if the club signs 3 players, Labbadia for example comes in and doesn’t rate the players signed and doesn’t use them. That’s a waste of funds that could have been reserved for the new Head Coach to use on players he will actually want and have a say over.

I see that Josh and agree it's logical, but Dowling appears to be making the decisions - question is could a new HC or manager over rule him?
I'm guessing a HC nowadays supplies a DoF with a wish list of players and the DoF tries to buy the players identified or finds a suitable alternatives?

Generally the Head Coach will say these are the types of players I want, in these positions and with these attributes and the Sporting Director then goes and finds players using scouts and their databases. Head Coaches will also have their list of players that they’d like.
If a found player is sufficient for the Head Coach, then they give their blessing and the Sporting Director, with his team, gets the signing done. If a player is going to cost too much or have too high wages then I’m fairly sure the Sporting Director makes the final call because they are above the Head Coach in the hierarchy.
When Pulis was here it worked differently because he was given (stupidly) full control over transfers and made the Sporting Director rather redundant when it came to transfers. He never trusted them fully hence why we had McLean and Lambert instead of better players found from abroad.

Labbadia’s probably been offered 2 Bratwurst and a bowl of Sauerkraut as his daily wage with a bonus of Currywurst for the weekend.
Anyway, had a look on bild.de and there’s nothing on there to do with Labbadia. Only Hamburg related news is about next season’s 2. Bundesliga and the expectations of certain people.
I’ve been keeping up to date with Hamburg during the past couple of months because I’m probably going there later in the year and the favourite for the job is Dieter Hecking who is leaving Borussia Mönchengladbach at the end of June. There was also reports of Hecking having an agreement with Ralf Becker before he was fired on Friday.
I’d bet my penis on Labbadia not getting the Hamburg job, it’ll be Hecking or Anfang.
