Sorry Cry

RE: Match Thread - Hull City - Statesideowl - 30-05-2016

It takes days to recover from the booze these now Doh

Will Burton turn out to be a Yeovil for us? I certainly hope not, but then again. We're not still playing SG football are we? Big Grin

I'm trying to keep and find positives. As Madsteve mentioned, there's no reason we shouldn't be thereabouts next season. DC will back CC and after a further influx of Portuguese starlets. F.C Wednesday will shut the critics up. We have a fair bit of deadwood to move an which will in turn open plenty of healthy squad places.
Hunt & Pudil needed players of equal or better calibre to push them for starts. They haven't, and whilst you may argue Palmer can step in for Hunt. It seems too much of a disturbance to how CC likes to start, I'm guessing?
Still need a striker, Hooper found his feet with us but his true tally is still about 1 in 3. Fessi can't carry the weight.
Wingers and CM. Just about every position needs to be bolstered, clearly some more than others.

CC. I not only hope he stays with us much longer, I hope he adapts more this season. There's no doubt his brand of football is a breathe of fresh air at S6. Our forward movement can be a joy to watch, and that thing we've all begged for 10 Xmas' ago, Crossing! Laugh However, I feel he's been found out by some of the more experienced managers in the British game.
We're incredibly susceptible to counter attacks, it has been our undoing more than once this season especially against teams set up this way such as Hull.

This is probably the only time I'm going to say this, but even the Officials had a better game than us.

Random thought:
The Championship is becoming one of the hardest leagues to get out of, the silly money is only going to exacerbate the issue.
I wonder at which point Championship attendance totals will shadow EPL totals. Essentially the richest clubs can continue to play with little to no fanbase in empty multi-million pound Stadiums?

Some more pace in the squad would be good.

Teams can set up either 433/451 and play counter attacking football especially as our full backs like to push on.

CC needs to play 3 central midfielders on more occasions than he did this season, Bannan, Hutch and a new signing.

Next season will be tough but at least we have the making of a decent team just need 4-5 quality signings to take that extra step.

Bannan, Hutch, Lee plus one (ideally Alan Judge) will give us a good enough CM. We need a striker to play ahead of FF & Hooper then back up defenders. Think Lewis Dunk from Brighton might be a good buy.

Burnley have gone up twice now by buying the best SBC players. Maybe that is what we need to do. Judge & Dunk fit the bill.

Judge & Dunk would be good additions, wouldn't get them cheap though.

As always I'd love to see a player like Hughes come, but there's no way he'd be leaving Derby for Wednesday if he does move.

Nelson Oliveira, the CF Forest had on loan this season looked decent to me could slot in nicely with our Portuguese style and shouldn't be more than a few mill.
Could also Offer Watford a Mill to loan Vydra for the season and have Vydra & Fessi together again?

RE: Match Thread - Hull City - Statesideowl - 31-05-2016

Can't read too much in to it I suppose. it does make me wonder however, as at least several players need to leave. The method of quality over quantity will leave us with yet another small squad with only a few players being rotated and a handful of anonymous' on payroll whom never feature. (Mcgugan, Melo)

If he's simply saying we won't be signing players like we did around this time last year, it makes sense. We shot ourselves in the foot with the Roeder business, signing players then a manager/coach.
