His biggest problem is that he is being compared to the best keeper ever seen at the Hawthorns. I know a bit about keepers played the position for 40 years to a decent standard . By the way Johnstone was very good on Saturday. I might take issue with that/ IMHO best goalkeeper since I have been supporting was Tony Godden. Godden Was A Great Keeper but please lets lay of Johnstone nothing worse for a young keeper than having supporters on his back yes he will make mistakes but lets give him the support we give the outfield players RE: Sam Johnstone - Zinman - 22-08-2019 It appears that some supporters will blame Johnstone for every goal we concede. Last night he did nothing wrong and made a couple of excellent saves, particularly one at the near post in the first half. I'm sure if we conceded from a penalty, some people would still blame him. I hope he has a thick skin. RE: Sam Johnstone - wba13 - 22-08-2019 Johnstone is a fine keeper and will improve, Godden was a great shot stopper but could command his box Osborne was eccentric but great to watch as he he had a drag on fans fags behind the goal. But Foster 2 big injuries and still comes back to be a great keeper for me and in my opinion only, he was a wonderful Keeper for the Baggies. I just wish he had not left the way he did. RE: Sam Johnstone - Blue Baggie - 23-08-2019 Johnstone is still learning his craft. His distribution has improved beyond belief this season. For me he needs to take command of his area more and come for the ball on occasions. If defenders aren't closing down (which is true) he needs to kick em up the arse. He's still got a lot to offer. For the people who think he can't stop long range shots, have a look at them and tell me any goalkeeper who would haved saved them. A lot have been superb strikes and nothing to do with poor goalkeeping. He's our number 1. The romour has it, Foz asked for a contract extension and the Italian DOF (Terranio) excuse the spelling. Said "why the hell should we extend your contact, you just helped us get relegated" if that's true, it may have a lot do with his decision to leave. RE: Sam Johnstone - Worldclassalbion - 24-08-2019 Out for Wedding Anniversary and just catching up at halftime. Great save from second Penalty. There you go WBA13 not so one eyed after all eh ![]() RE: Sam Johnstone - wba13 - 24-08-2019 great match saved us 2 pts today great display showed just how good he is , and the true fans appreciated it as they were singing his name after the game. BOING BOING . RE: Sam Johnstone - Blue Baggie - 24-08-2019 Sam played very well today, I'm sure the compliments will be posted all over the shop. RE: Sam Johnstone - BaggieMan - 26-08-2019 Sam Johnstone did have a good game on Saturday and the penalty save was top drawer. It makes you wonder if getting criticism on Twitter (and maybe here) has had a positive effect on his game. Although good against Derby, I’d still like to see more consistency in his game and not be as a response to his critics. RE: Sam Johnstone - Worldclassalbion - 01-09-2019 Ok I will say his pass out to the wing was brilliant in the build up to Livermore’s goal but he dropped the ball from the header that gifted them their second goal. Needs replacing but just my opinion |
