Bit harsh Slick they were fantastic at Forest ,
With all our new signings to come in plus Hegazi back we should be fine,
Give him time put Austin in instead of our Ken the result would have been different if one thing worries me is that Ken missed two great chances doesn't look very good and cost 8 Million quid!!

Yes, too early to criticise bilic. Hopefully he will quickly see that Livermore is a poor player, Zohore is a huge mistake, and HRK is out of his depth even in the championship.
I wont panic just yet, but the new players need to step up ASAP.

Blick made several huge mistakes today...

The first was not picking Austin and Diangana on the bench. The second was the subs, which were "pick out of a hat" Pardew style subs.

We were good against Forest but didn't create any clear chances (the goals were a goalkeeping error and misplaced cross). Today we created one chance when Phillips disposed their defender.

As yet, 180 minutes in, we haven't created a chance by playing through a team once.

3 goal scored, 3 goalkeeping mistakes. As for today's goal, I genuinely think I would've saved that. It was almost like the Millwall keeper tuck a bung patting that into his own net.

I'm sorry, but the team is setup all wrong, we play with wingers who just go on the outside and whip the ball in every time but never have anybody in the box. Neither winger ever looks to get on the back stick when the other winger crosses and we have no presence up front. What is the point? Even with Austin, Gayle, Lewandowski or whoever up top, they would be outnumbered as we don't have anyone joining from midfield. If you rely on crosses with 1 up top, you need wingers who can also chip in with a header or a attacking midfielder who can (think Tim Cahill). We deliver crosses with no purpose.

As for the subs of HRK and Burke, can anyone tell where they were playing? The team had no shape, was completely hotchpotch and illogical. There didn't seem any desire to get the ball into the box and win it, it was just a case of continuing to plod from side to side at snails pace. Although to be fair to Burke, at least he tried to go forward, unlike most of the others.

This lack of formation is down to Bilic. He has had these players all pre season.

What really annoyed me was at 1-0 we had zero desire to go forward and put the game to bed. There was one occasion when Phillips picked up the ball with the entire pitch ahead of him and stood there and passed backwards. I honestly think if Millwall had come at us from the start they would've beaten us. After we scored and they opened up, they were the the only team in it.

No positives to take from this.

I was hopeful when Bilic took charge. A big name with a likeable personality and experience.

But I can only judge what is in front of me and the performance and management today was shocking.

It's not often I say this when it's a Baggies game, but I struggled to sit through the full 90 minutes today as it was so dour. Pedestrian, side to side, no penetration, no idea.

We were waxing lyrical about the window on Thursday and yet none of the new players are included? I get the foreign lads, but not the British based players. Last weekend I watched Diangana play in pre-season for West Ham and he was one of the best players on the pitch. Yet our bench contains the likes of Conor Townsend. It's mind boggling.

There was no link up at all between Zohore, Krovinovic, Edwards and Phillips. The players have been together all pre season, but they looked like they had never played together.

What are these guys being coached?

HRK was poor when he came on, but at least actually controls the ball and passes it. Zohore is like an invisible man up there. Bilic knew this after last week, yet still decides Austin isn't worth a shout for the bench.

Last week I said we were just missing a striker, but today there was a lot more at fault than that.

At half time it was 0-0 and we often had 6 players goalside of Millwall's most advanced player with the entire back 4 and the 2 sitting midfielders.

It was obvious we needed the full backs higher and one of the central midfielders getting beyond the ball but Bilic didn't change a thing at half time. The only reason we scored was because we managed to score was because of a set-play and some of the worst goalkeeping you could see.

Blimey - crisis looming - held to a draw at home  Confused

RE: WBA vs Millwall - Match Thread - Blue Baggie - 10-08-2019

Bilic had to select the same side as last week tbh, With the Millwall cup game he can mix and match a bit.
Expect some changes for the cup game and next weeks away to GJ Luton. That's a game we need to win, points and pride at stake.

Great another point and not lost yet. Thumb up Great start, Thumb up and when the players have time to gel, who knows, early days yet.

The doomsters have started, give it a chance.

RE: WBA vs Millwall - Match Thread - Slick_Footwork - 10-08-2019

By doomsters, do you mean people who paid to watch the match?

Because I can't see anyone who actually watched that tripe taking any positives. Maybe armchair fans who read statistics.

Just being realistic, on that evidence, we are on a hiding to nothing. Hope things improve.
