It’s surprising given who is Head Coach (former centre back) and how we were in Darren’s 6 matches last season. I think he might have to compromise and start defending deeper with less passing around the back whilst keeping our attacking play in tact. Personally if I was your manager I wouldn’t change a thing - until you have to!! Accept the frail defence and keep attacking because if you change things to shore up the defence I will put money on it that that change will alter your attacking and scoring!! Currently you are picking up plenty of points despite your defence, as was on display on Wednesday night. RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - 4evaabaggie - 06-10-2018 Question. How many points, how many goals did the dingles score last season ...... hash tag we'll beat it. Wow 31 goals, twelve games ....... we're gonna score more goals than you Answer. 99 points 82 goals Need 52 goals from 34 games ...... bring it on. Need 25 wins and one draw ..... come on you Baggies ....... 100+ ... you know you can do it. RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - Imre varadi - 06-10-2018 Barnsley have never scored more than 30 in there entire history ??? the dingles ... there is only one ..sorry be more original like stop singing our songs aswell like you did in the week ![]() and you cant call them scum or scrubbers l##ds and the Pigs have this mantle ![]() RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - WBA-Josh - 06-10-2018 (06-10-2018, 19:45)St Charles Owl Wrote: Personally if I was your manager I wouldn’t change a thing - until you have to!! At home we can steamroll teams so there’s not much changing to be done other than our centre backs being more careful with the ball and better organisation at set-pieces. Away though is where Big Dave has to earn his money. I like seeing us going away and attacking the poorer teams but there are matches where we have to have a plan B and be more conservative with our formation and tactics. It’s those matches against our promotion rivals and top 12 teams where I’d like to see us change to a 4411, defend deeper and play on the counter-attack through our wingers and number 10. It’s what served Big Dave well in 5 of his 6 matches last season. I don’t think Big Dave will do that because he has his goal for this season of attacking football but I think that plan B would suit us well in those matches. RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - 4evaabaggie - 06-10-2018 Imre, the dingles are dirty, thieving inbred bar stewards ........ have you been to Wolverhampton..there is not a more fitting bunch of people for that moniker. RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - Imre varadi - 06-10-2018 yes my friend but they are from emmerdale which is in yorkshire hence Barnsley ! stop copying pick youre own names like that shite worcester sauce ![]() RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - St Charles Owl - 07-10-2018 Imre’s right, dingles are from Barnsley, you can always spot them, they are the ones with six fingers on each hand!!!! RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - meandbrenarebaggies - 07-10-2018 I like football at the moment. There seems to be a turning point in the air with younger players coming through and the old guard slipping away slowly. I find playing in the Second Division (I know, we are supposed to call it the Insert Sponsors Name Championship but really?) quite refreshing and I don’t miss all the palaver of the First Division. Who cares about Mourinho’s latest petulance?; Arsenal being lost in the wilderness?; Spurs thinking they are something they are not?; Man City buying everything;?....but I must admit Hazard’s goal the other day was a bit special. We have the excitement of a team steadily gaining confidence and scoring goals. I love the highlights on Quest; I love listening to the game on radio and I love taking my betting slip out and reading the bit that says “to win the league outright”. COYB RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - Kennyg - 07-10-2018 Well, what a game of two different halves that was! In the first half we were very poor. Reading could have scored a couple more. For their goal no one closed down the short corner then backed off giving him room to curl one in. The half time stats said it all - WBA 5 Shots, 0 on target! Reading 14 shots, 5 on target. The second half however was a complete transformation. Gayle' early goal settled us then it was one way traffic. Thought Edwards was superb when he came on, and Brunt did more in 25 minutes than Livermore did in the first 65! Second place in the table going into the International break is more than welcome. But as others have said, please Big Dave, tighten up the defence a little, especially away from home. Maybe tinker slightly with that formation. All in all I am loving this season. How great to be seeing so many goals (31!) and some superb attacking play. Keep it up Baggies! Boing Boing! RE: WBA vs Reading - Match Thread - valpayne - 07-10-2018 What bogey team? Lol! Quite a few people here are concerned with big daves tactics and right enough but you have to bear in mind big Dave bless him is not exactly the most intelligent manager on the planet what he does have in abundance is enthusiasm never say die attitude, he is very motivational and obviously very popular with the players and is West Brom through and through those are his attributes and strengths and that is what is working for him. I would suggest for tactics it’s our number two that has more savvy there having had the position he had with the Belgian national team and we seem to be playing a similar formation i.e. the three at the back however the Belgian national team and West Brom are two very different animals on seeing the Sheffield Wednesday game we were pretty horrific especially at the back were just not passing the ball well enough and linking up properly with the midfield it’s slow ponderous and nervy our centre backs get on the ball then seem to be calling/urging our midfield to come towards them for a shorter pass and not finding our players when they do make a longer forward pass but on the other hand we are absolutely lethal upfront with arguably the strongest attacking threat in this division and that is our main strength which was mentioned here previously by a wise guest looking in? I also think this is a transition and the players are having to adapt especially those that were pulised so time will tell if we can get better at this system better defensively and keep that attacking threat rolling im pretty satisfied overall but would obviously like to see the defending improve because given those current frailties the facts are we are 2nd in the league so far with a fantastic goal difference so boing boing to that |
