So has someone released the news too soon? Graham Smyth @GrahamSmyth Chesterfield confirm via the club website that the takeover deal is off. Graham Smyth @GrahamSmyth Martin Allen a happy man today: "If this takeover has had happened, last night would probably have been my last game as your manager."#Spireites RE: Take Over - Dancingwilldoit - 27-07-2018 Oh the trials and tribulations of being a Chesterfield fan. Has any other club gone through the on and off field shenanigans we have since DA took the helm? How the hell he runs other successful businesses is beyond me. If the take over went ahead, it certainly looks as though Martin Allen would have walked and that is probably what broke the deal. Well done MA and more power to your elbow. I assume he has a written contract that details his specific role which would have been broken had a DOF been brought in above him opening the door for a constructive breach of contract claim. Who would have paid that? Other addons with pay offs for all the backroom staff probably made somebodies eyes water a bit. Glad its ended with us still having a manager that might just perform a minor miracle and get us back in the football league on a low budget. I wasn't too sure when he was appointed but really am becoming more and more positive, so much so I am going down to Ebbsfleet next week. I think that sound I heard was Pooch falling off his! Dancing, I think your identity may have been hacked. England reaching the semi-finals of a World Cup for 28 years, massive heatwave in the UK and Dancing is being optimistic. What the hell's going on? Have we entered a parallel universe? RE: Take Over - bluepooch - 29-07-2018 Ya see Dancing ,its not just me who thinks you're a grouch !. Didn't go to Alf went to the cricket instead ,good decision,I dont think we should read too much into the result as we will probably make at least 10 changes for the first game next Saturday and Alf look like they could be decent .Reading comments from the intellects on Bobs Board their keeper was excellent and ours (someone called Anyon ) was rubbish.MA says some may be leaving this week ,lets hope one of them is Laid Back Joe . He has also had the green light to bring in another striker which would probably complete the squad .Ill pop over to Matlock on Monday . RE: Take Over - Dancingwilldoit - 29-07-2018 I went. It was pretty dire stuff but looked like our reserves which doesn't bode well for Maguire unless he was just making up lost time from his Russia visit. Drew looked ok but they rest of the outfield were poor. Anyon though was dreadful. I don't think he made a single save. He was nowhere near where he should have been for the first, he came for punches and almost missed each time with the ball flying anywhere and fumbled a gently rolling ball when under no pressure. I hope to god its him that's on his way. Alfs No 9 must have been 6'8" and he won every single header causing us problems. If there are more players like him in non league we certainly wont stroll it. RE: Take Over - Devongone - 29-07-2018 I think I am the pessimist. I think Dancing is very much a realist but quite a harsh judge. Matt seems fairly normal with bursts of both optimism and despair. And Pooch? Well Anyon must be bad if even you haven't found his good side Pooch. Maguire is young - I think Mr Allen should give every game he possibly can. Same applies to Rowley. I think we do need a forward, but he must have goals in him - which McAlinden hasn't had these last two seasons ...... so Cheltenham fans must be despairing at getting him and losing the excellent Eisa. Our problems up front are Gozie will need to stay fit (which he did until last season!) and Zavon Hines will need to maintain his form throughout the season - and last season he didn't make it through October ............ If they can do that it will help Lee Shaw to make the leap to this level and get on the goal trail. RE: Take Over - Dancingwilldoit - 29-07-2018 Hope you are right Dev. I would add to your list Amanchi. He came on for the last 20mins or so and looked a real threat. It was just about the only time we tested their back 4 and he certainly looks the part. Shaw huffed and puffed but produced very little. Rowley looked ordinary as did Rawson. It wouldn't surprise me if Smith wasn't the one leaving as he has had a very backseat pre season and hasn't done much to show what he can do. The other is Sinnott who again did little yesterday. Not sure where Blue has heard we can sign 1 more striker as Carson was on Radio Sheff Friday saying the opposite. RE: Take Over - Devongone - 29-07-2018 If Bob's can be believed Carson was talking through the seat of his well-cut suit, and MA can go for a forward. I'd be happy with Jacob Hazel and/or Ky Marsh-Brown from Whitehawk at no great expense. Amantchi sounds promising. AND the the threat he provides is different. Rowley has shown some ability, but is not going to improve sitting down. You don't become a plumber without going in the bathroom. Shaw is finding his way, IMO he just needs players to work with ....... and young Rawson is a goalscorer and they often don't look much when they aren't scoring (even international class players). RE: Take Over - bluepooch - 29-07-2018 Typical of the club that AC alludes to the fact that MA cannot sign a striker then MA comes out the next day and says he has been given the all clear to sign one !.Why doesn't Carson just stay out of the limelight ,he must know his interviews are pulled apart every time ,making him look a proper twat . |
