RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - JUSTASILLYOLDGIT - 17-03-2018 Woke up this morning with a real horrible feeling. For some reason I remembered, back in the day, we walloped Bury 6-0 then the next time we played them they did exactly same to us. Can't happen today.......can it! 0-3. Not changing my prediction though, 'cause that would be just plain daft..........!!! ![]() RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - theo_luddite - 17-03-2018 I make it 2 changes, tossers on BT can't count. Ince cane on as a sub. Ince and to some extent Malone having a mare out left. Still waiting for the first shot from Town RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - Amelia Chaffinch - 17-03-2018 Aye poor Ince struggling to keep the ball Van la Parra on for Ince RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - theo_luddite - 17-03-2018 We weren't at the races today. Both their goals came after the ref waved play on after fouls on Town players but Palace were better than us almost all round the park. RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - jjamez - 17-03-2018 End of the day town are a premier league side with championship players. The attitude of the players isnt in question, but we have 3 premier league quality players and if one has an off day then we struggle. We lack pace, not only in our play but in the players themselves, we don't have someone with the pace to trouble the opposition. Some of the players are also lacking confidence and the only way to regain confidence is to do something on the pitch, score a goal, grab an assist, have a player beaten all ends up, goal saving challenge etc. Unfortunately ince looks a shadow of the player we have come up against in the past. Think we have to ask some questions about the future too 1) which players will be willing to stay and fight to get promoted back should we go do 2) if we stay up how much are we going to be spending to improve the quality 3) if wagner leaves who's going to replace him, both if we stay up or if we go down RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - Lord Snooty - 17-03-2018 Just got home after a 3 hour horror drive. I've had better days. ![]() ![]() Seriously though, best team won today, even though both of their goals were poor. They were first to all the second balls and never gave us any time, forcing us into mistakes, much like we did to them down there. RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - theo_luddite - 18-03-2018 Wagner and Lossl post match http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p061gqfh http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p061gqf3 RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - jjamez - 18-03-2018 I'll give my questions/ statements an attempted answer and we can see what everyone else thinks. So with 1) Lossl stays, pretty much has to along with haderjonaj, smith has had a poor season so probably stays in competition for fullback Zanka I think seems like a character that hurts when we perform like that especially when it is his mistake, probably won't want to be at championship level, but will probably stay to get us back. Schindler I think we have the idea someone will come in for him, but I dont think he'll force the matter Hef is an interesting one as some believe he is on his way, especially if we stay up, if we go down though I dunno Lowe I think will stay but I do doubt malone, cant see them both wanting to fight it out, can see malone going back down south. Williams came here to be in the prem, with his injury I don't see how he could leave as such, he'll probably stay like zanka and aim to get us back up. Hogg will stay, honestly think he'll end his career with us Mooy is an interesting one like schindler, cant see him forcing a move, but could see one of the newly promoted teams having a sniff and maybe someone like Bournemouth ect Whitehead will either go like hudson or have a season or two at oxford or something Billing will probably stay and aim to feature on a regular basis Rajiv will probably try to force a move, judging by the interview he gave the other week Kach will look to return to what he was last season, probably trying to usurp rajiv Pritchard just signed so difficult to force any sort of move, we hold all the cards there, he'll probably stay a year to try and get back Ince is an interesting one, can see paul telling him to leave but judging by this season the championship is his level, but maybe we aren't the right club for him or our tactics arent right for him Quaner probably keeps the role he's had since joining us in the large part Sabiri out on loan if we stay up, possibly the same if we go down Mounie will probably want to be at a higher level Depoitre was wanted by an unnamed championship side before we came in, can see him staying and leading the line if we went down. Coleman and green, one will leave/retire the other will become second choice with schofield as third Payne and holmes denis' careers here depends on the league neither are likely to stay if we stay up Question two is for hoyle Question three is one were we could only list who we would like, which always provides decent discussion RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - theo_luddite - 18-03-2018 1) which players will be willing to stay and fight to get promoted back should we go down? From the team yesterday 1 Lössl ![]() 33 Hadergjonaj ![]() 25 Jorgensen ![]() 26 Schindler ![]() 3 Malone ![]() 6 Hogg ![]() 10 Mooy ![]() 23 Quaner ![]() 21 Pritchard ![]() 22 Ince ![]() 24 Mounie ![]() Substitutes 2 Smith ![]() 8 Billing ![]() 9 Kachunga ![]() 13 Coleman ![]() 15 Löwe ![]() 17 van La Parra ![]() 20 Depoitre ![]() Regarding the rest - Green has been well paid not to play, I doubt he'll be playing next season either unless he fancies lower league wages. Kongolo - won't sign permanently unless we stay up, he'll be elsewhere, he's good enough Williams - he'll still be around for at least the first half of the season Scanz - would like to see him still playing for Town. Might depend on who's managing us. Payne - might be sold on at a profit Hiwula - will we loan him out again or give him a chance? Tbh, I've forgotten whether he's still ours or not. 2) if we stay up how much are we going to be spending to improve the quality I'd say most of this season's £100m will have been spent on transfer fees (or will have been allocated depending on the terms) and wages. Thanks to the stupid money spent by a certain French Club on a lad they bought from Spain, transfer asking fees suddenly doubled overnight. We did our business early and got what looked like reasonable quality. We'll have to spend double that next season for similar quality, but then, we don't necesssarily need to replace half the squad like we did when we came up (10, 11, 12 signings this season whether you count the loans that became permanent or not?). If we get any silly money offers for some players we'd be daft not to consider it and use it to bring in some that are a bit better than we have now. 3) if wagner leaves who's going to replace him, both if we stay up or if we go down. Staying up? A lot could depend on who goes down. Of the current British managers who may or may not be available, Sparky Hughes, yes I know what I said above. He might however get a longer term from Sarfampton if he keeps them up. Of the foreign breed, possibly someone from a German or Spanish 2nd Division club or an up and coming coach from one of the top ones looking for his first break. We should know enough about British talent (I do wonder??) so someone that knows players in European Leagues again wouldn't hurt. No, I don't know any names. There might also be a former England Manager and Town player looking for a job in the Summer, know what I mean wack? Football wouldn't be very pretty though but he'd make us more effective against the top 6/7. Going Down? We could do a lot worse than the lad at Wigan. He's a former Wigan player though, so that will still have some pull playing in the same Division, assuming they come up. PS - I believe it was Newcastle that wanted Depoitre, but because the Fat Spanish Waiter had an already bloated and overpaid squad, in his words - they couldn't compete with the wages we were offering. ![]() RE: Terriers v Eagles 17th March 2018 - jjamez - 18-03-2018 Think we need 3 or 4 players based on no key players leaving If we stay up and wagner leaves I'll be disappointed, in regards to a replacement, marco silva is available as is vilas boas, dont think we have the pulling power for people like tuchel. Brendon rodgers would be mentioned but I'd be inclined to say no, likewise for koeman If we went down, I wouldnt blame wagner if he left, I'd still be tempted at looking at boas, but I agree with paul cook at wegan and I'd also look at dean smith at brentford, he's done a good job there and is impressive. Sure people like schteeve will put their name forward. If we were to look at recently retired players I'd prefer frank lampard or gerrard over sulzeer campbell! |
