RE: RIP Cyrille Regis - drewks - 15-01-2018 I think the posts on here say it all. Big Cyrille wasn't just a fantastic centre forward, he was much, much more. He epitomised the best Baggies team I've ever seen. He played with great courage, pride, power and skill, and shone a beacon for all, black and white. Never had the luck to meet him but, as these posts are saying, he was always apparently a joy - a genuinely nice, humble man. A far cry from the egotists that play the game today. The world is truly a sadder place today, and like so many, I'm fighting back the tears. RIP Cyrille, and thank you RE: RIP Cyrille Regis - Salopbaggie - 15-01-2018 Truly devastated and to think Big Cyrille will not get to see his (you know what I mean) statue unveiled. Its like losing a member of the family, I must have seen most of the games he played for us, certainly every home game and most of the away games. R.I.P. That's how much of a West Brom legend that he is. RIP. RE: RIP Cyrille Regis - Beefy 1965 - 15-01-2018 One game epitomises these two if any one (skad) has a link Man Utd 3 WBA 5 please can you post it .............. TOGETHER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() RE: RIP Cyrille Regis - Devongone - 15-01-2018 West Brom were never my club, but I always had a soft spot for them because of their unpredictability and the whole club's apparent focus on the opposition goal rather than their own. Cyrille Regis gave this hard-working club in an industrial city genuine glamour. He was a wonderful player, who deserved more than five international caps, and who it turned out was also a lovely bloke. Put a young Cunningham and Regis together in today's Premier League and they would still dazzle. It wouldn't matter who was manager, everyone would love West Brom. Cyrille was loved and won't be forgotten for many years to come. RE: RIP Cyrille Regis - Mightybrom - 15-01-2018 After being an avid reader and viewer on site, today's news has finally pushed me into posting. Like all on here i am devastated to see the second of my two footballing heroes has now passed away, my only solace is the fact that he is now back in partnership with my other hero. R.I.P Cyrille. RIP. RE: RIP Cyrille Regis - BaggieSteve - 15-01-2018 I've been lucky enough to follow the Albion since 1962 and I've seen a fair few great players in the stripes. Kevan, Astle, Robson, Johnston, Cunningham, Osborne, Wile, Statham, Gera, Phillips and many others. However, for me, one name shines above them all, the incomparable Cyrille Regis. As a player he had everything; pace, power and great skill and these three attributes alone make him stand out as a magnificent footballer. He had something more, however. At a time of appealing racial prejudice - both on and off the pitch - he showed himself as a man of huge dignity who ultimately belittled those who abused him by his refusal to be cowed by them. His answer to all this was simple: score goals, it was the best riposte going. Cyrille, thank you for those wonderful goals that me and thousands of Albion fans everywhere will treasure but, most of all, thank you for providing us with a definition of dignity that football and society so frequently forgets.
