What will be will be. But I can say one thing for sure, supporting Chesterfield is not easy.

Er ..... pins and needles could be a symptom of something very serious. In a friendly I think get the lad off the field and checked out is a very professional response. Much more professional I might add than play the keeper injured in the 46th game of the season ........... and lose him for the following season.

Like Dancing I fear we are going to get physiqued out of it in midfield even when not simply outplayed by many Div 2 teams unless we make signings. And if you lose out in midfield, defence and attack both suffer.

I'd be happy to be proved wrong by this team. But I can't help comparing the team we're building to some of the apparently ordinary teams in the division. Our options up front look quite good, but Stevenage have five options up front too. They include a 6'6" ins centre forward and a prolific goalscorer from the lower leagues. We've got ten defenders but Carlisle for instance don't even seem worried that Mark Ellis has become a free agent and I could find room for him in our back three. And the other day Accrington signed Richards-Everton from Scotland, a player I used to advocate us signing, who spent last season on the injury list. That gives them two big powerful centre backs who'll lead the way to plenty of clean sheets.

When you look, even in areas we would imagine we are strong, other teams are building too. So what does that say about midfield where we already think we are relatively weak? Matt is right, it isn't easy being a Spireite.

Makings of a good team is having a stone wall defence as a good strong defence is vital but its also vital you have a good strike force to score goals and I believe we have both. I'm not too worried about the midfield maybe we need 1 more midfielder but that's about it.

Matt without an effective midfield all you do is put pressure on the defenders with wave after wave of attack, just like last season. When our defenders do win the ball who is going to take it forward with a killer pass onto our forwards? We lacked it all last season and we all know what happened. GC likes to play with 2 wingbacks in the midfield 5, problem is if somebody else in the middle of the park doesn't win the ball we can be 1 nil down before we get started.
It will either be hopeful long balls from defence with about a 20% accuracy rate or a wingback crossing to ? who exactly, Dennis @ 5'3"? CoG who isn't a striker? - before you say it German will be on the bench.
Some people say I don't know anything about football and maybe they are right but give Dennis the ball at his feet and he is a goalscorer, try to put it on his head and he might as well be on the bench.
To me this team lacks drastically in midfield. 5-5 as line up is something none of us have ever seen before. Maybe there's a reason why.

That's why you play O'Grady or Ugwu upfront with Dennis they can head the ball down for Dennis to latch on to and put in the back of the net. It used to work with Steve Fletcher and Jamie Ward.

Best form of defence is attack that's why you need your midfield to press as high up the field as you can to put the opposing team under pressure especially when they are on the ball and force them to make mistakes. You say we need a ball winner well why do you think Jak McCourt has been signed, he's a ball winner who can put a killer pass through to the forwards.

Don't worry Dancing we will be alright. I think we've got a promising team with a lot of young talent.

Hope your right Matt. Lets see how we go on tonight. First proper test.

RE: Team to Start - Devongone - 18-07-2017

So Matt, you're going 3-4-1-2 with the 4 comprising two wing backs presumably ..........? So we have Dimaio, Rowley, Lou Reed, Wakefield, Brownell, McCourt. Mitchell and maybe Donohue (if not wingbacking) competing for the two central places? And not a physical presence between them. Maybe one of them has the timing of a Kante. Maybe. Maybe not.

Well I enjoyed it tonight we competed well against a team two divisions higher and it was only the class of a certain D. Brooks that was the difference in the end ,in fact we should have got a draw ,Gozie hit the post after rounding the keeper and being faced with an open goal.
Yooonited ensured the lions share of possession and had us pinned back at times but we always provided a threat on the break and I was most impressed with the defensive discipline.
There were some good performances but I must give a special mention to young Charlie who was a busy bee both on and of the ball and looks a good prospect despite being light and small.
Of the new guys well OG was as expected ,making a general nuisance of himself and it was good to see him find the net.Delial looks strong and quick for a teenager and will be ok in time .Gozie is a real unit big strong and with these guys plus Ricky and Kristian we have good options up front.
Jak Mcourt did well in a defensive midfield role always wanting the ball and hit the bar from fully 30 yards.
Wiseman did what he needed to do and looks like a tidy player and Anyon couldnt do much about the goals although he does look small for a keeper and didnt command his 6 yard area like Tommy does.
Overall a pleasing performance and when the injuries return we will have a good squad .

RE: Team to Start - Dancingwilldoit - 19-07-2017

Injuries could be a big problem, 4 out already isn't it, without including Lee?

RE: Team to Start - Devongone - 19-07-2017

Is it a case of train too hard and end up injured.
