RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - spireitematt - 25-04-2017

Will half the squad be gone? Will we bring in better players?

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - spireitematt - 25-04-2017

Rumour going around SEB, Angel, Stuckmann and Liam Graham won't be offered new deals.

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - Dancingwilldoit - 26-04-2017

Dan Jones will be missed. He always applauded the fans at the start of each half and at the end of the game when some couldn't wait to get off the pitch. He respected the fans and had time for them. He would have torn a few lge2 defences to bits but the one thing we always lacked was somebody to get on the end of some great crosses. An old fashioned centre forward would have had a field day playing with him, somebody a bit like German who looks like he may be going as well.

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - Devongone - 26-04-2017

Dan Jones is / was a bit mad. When we were good our goals mostly seemed to involve Tendayi rather than him precisely because as Dancing points out his crosses would have suited a traditional centre forward and we often had Eoin Doyle. But yes he is one of only a few of our players who will easily find a new club and if a team with a Matty Smith style centre forward signed him he could be a big hit in the very division for which we are now not good enough.

Yes I'm sure Ricky German is going. The same secrecy and lack of game time surrounds him as Ched. Could he be going to the same place? (If we do get rid of him at this stage it will prove that not only is our manager an idiot, but also that he is part of a club which has no interest in the future.)

BUT we are already telling everyone we're going nowhere aren't we? If you were negotiating a deal for Ched Evans with Sheffield United wouldn't you think that they must have several players who will become surplus to requirements in the Championship, who would do very well in Division Two? If you were serious about our future wouldn't you be saying something like "Okay £500,000 gets you Ched and we hope you're offering O'Shea a contract too .......... we like the look of .......... and ...................... who won't even make your bench?" I would!

There's no future in the deal we're making because we have no future and the money involved will never have even the most tenuous connection with re-building the team. Vanarama and Evo-Stick here we come!

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - bluepooch - 26-04-2017

Id be surprised if German was allowed to leave unless we have a decent fee and follow on involved,I would imagine he isnt playing because Caldwell doesn't think he is ready yet .Although if there is information he is going then fair enough .

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - Devongone - 27-04-2017

I'm surmising Pooch that when three players from a team that was known to rely almost totally on German's influence can get close to the first team there has to be some sensible or conspiratorial explanation other than ability that he can't. Otherwise the manager would be an idiot! Or we wouldn't just have given Ricky a contract ........

We've scored 13 goals and three of them were in one game. How can Ricky German not be ready ...... not ready in comparison to what, two shots in a game, or did we manage four? Ant and Dec would get a game for us.

Ronan Keating's nephew is playing up front for Torquay. Maybe we should sign him and Ronan could buy the club?

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - bluepooch - 27-04-2017

When you put it like that it does look like he is out of favour but I am hoping he is not playing because he is being sold rather than let go .Isn't he under contract ?

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - Devongone - 28-04-2017

Don't be too downhearted Pooch. He'll be sold if he goes.

I can't imagine a manager with GC's desperate current record not giving German a run without some explanation in the background. It could be Ricky has an injury problem lingering. Certainly he'd probably need to be fitter with muscles more defined to be a first-team regular ....... but that's part of growing up too.

I'm just putting together Ched's disappearance (called injury) and then sale with Ricky's disappearance. We only had three saleable items - one was Ched, two is Ricky and three is now Joe Rowley ........ and as Dancing says it is part of the family silver. It doesn't matter what we get, it'll be like the £1.3 million we got for Sam Clucas. He's now Hull's most consistent player in the Premiership and that money went nowhere. Our debt didn't shrink, our playing strength declined. It looks to me as though Ricky is just part of a process and a loyal, good man like you is one of those paying.

If I could put you in charge of the club tomorrow Pooch, I'd know you might get loads of things wrong, but I'm bloody sure it would never enter your head to profit personally, to siphon off money, to act in any way that didn't benefit the club. I'd know if you said you were aiming for us to finish halfway up next season and go up the next then you meant that and you'd be trying to to make it happen. And that you cared.

I couldn't say that about any of the men we currently have in charge. My fear is they are pissing all over the decency of loyal supporters. (That's why I get angry over your optimism. You, Matt and Dancing are worth far more than the people we write about on here. I think we are being treated with disdain.)

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - spireitematt - 28-04-2017

In the film I remember him saying the F word.

RE: THE AXEMAN COMETH - bluepooch - 28-04-2017

Dev I honestly dont think there was anything devious in the decline of the last two years I just honestly think it is simply down to bad management and decision making.

I wonder if Gary Caldwell talks to Dave Allen the way Cloughie spoke to the chairman of Derby.
Seriously how wrong were Leeds to sack him considering the success he went on to have a few years later although I still think Taylor played a vital part in Clough's success.
