RE: IT'S CALDWELL - bluepooch - 22-01-2017 The one thing that jumped out at me from yesterday about Caldwell was the fact that he saw something that no one else did ,the idea that Gardner could play as a 'holding' midfielder. His reasoning was also interesting ,that the role could be used to start attacks rather than protect the defence and you know what ,judging on yesterdays performance he was spot on .That's thinking outside the box Guardiola style . RE: IT'S CALDWELL - Devongone - 22-01-2017 Gardner just baffles me. He's clearly good enough but his performance in other positions has been so up and down I think its a huge gamble even putting him and O'Shea in the same team. Pep's got his goalie out of the box and his defence in a panic when the ball's in the box. Much as I'm sure he's a good manager (partly because he's a student of my favourite, Marcelo Bielsa) at the moment THE BOX is 2-0 up. Mascherano plays in defence for the very reason you say Caldwell played Gardner deeper. It is an interesting move. I've been wondering if we should play Evans deeper ....... and see if he scores more goals ........... he seems to like shooting from long range ............. and he wouldn't be such an obvious target for markers (they all look for him and know him don't they?) |
