Nice one DD. I feel the same. However I will get started !
Cyclists on off road cycle tracks ( Sustrans routes usually on old railway routes ) approaching from behind at pretty high speed who give no warning of their approach. Pretty dangerous particularly when walking the dogs free.
Being of a tolerant nature I resist the thought of shoving my stick through their spokes !!

Dog walkers, walking uncontrollable dogs off leads.
My son is petrified of dogs after being attacked at the age of 2 in the street.
No matter how many times you tell the owner that he's scared - they seem to think the answer "he's harmless" stands up.
As the son who is now 9 (type 1 diabetic) is trying to climb anything to get out the way blood pouring from his nails (honest) then panicing so much he has a Hypo!
and thay still have the nerve to stand there going on about over reacting.
I have ridden bikes for 34 years now and it works both ways - from both parties - dog owners and cyclists!
Also the stick through the spokes - does that work the same as a pump aimed at the barking jumping dog or the owner.

You'll have to gradually reintroduce your lad to some nice dogs who will lick him to death, Spen!
Dogs aren't going to disappear in his lifetime, so the sooner you get him used to dogs again the better. 99% of dogs are fine which is a bigger % than humans! If he'd been attacked by yobs you wouldn't be protecting him from humans all his life.
I'm not being heartless, unsympathetic, or condescending - but a) I love dogs b) I'd rather be mauled by a dog than a raving football fan.

He actually is getting better around them. Its down to the initial shock of the dog off the lead running towards him that does it.
Once he's got used to a dog then everything tends to be fine.
My issue is that just cus they like dogs and know what their dog is like they think they can say "arw it only wants a fus"
How about respecting other peoples space and opinions.

I actually really sympathise with your concerns over your lad's fear of dogs particularly given that he had a nasty experience a while ago. I have two grandchildren who have the same fear following a similar incident. I am slowly trying to coax them into being friendly with my dogs with some success.
I also agree that as dog owners we shouldn't presume you that everyone else or their dogs are happy for our dogs to approach them. If I have any doubt at all I bring my dogs to heel, make them sit quietly or put them on their leads. They are good dogs and I am extremely proud of them and their obedience but am always aware that other people may not share the same view.
I still feel however that cyclists approaching from behind whether or not the pedestrian has a dog should give fair warning of their approach for their own safety as well as that of the pedestrian.
Hope your lad overcomes his fear and learns to like if not love dogs. When well cared for and properly trained they are wonderful friends.

Cornish drivers
Drivers here in Cornwall are a different breed to elsewhere in England. It is like living in a whole new country with how some idiots drive. Either really wreckless and unaware of others or they drive so slowly and disregard the speed limit. I once followed a car for a couple of miles who was going 40 in a 60 and then the idiot decides to speed up to 45 once we reached a village with a 40mph speed limit.
