RE: Burton Albion v Town - theo_luddite - 14-12-2016 Wagner talking to Oggy after the match RE: Burton Albion v Town - EastLondonTerrier - 14-12-2016 (14-12-2016, 11:18)jjamez Wrote: I think that was another performance that we needed to have, i dont think we played bad but it was more scrappy than anything else, so to be scrappy and snatch a goal whilst also keeping the clean sheet is a good thing. Agreed on both those players. I think Scanz might leave of his own accord anyway unless we get to the promised land and even then Wagner would clear out a lot of them in any case. They'll both probably want new challenges. It happens to every player at some point whether they're happy at the club or not although I think both have shown outwardly their frustration at not playing this season. RE: Burton Albion v Town - SHEP_HTAFC - 14-12-2016 Brilliant thread theo ![]() Well I listened to Oggy last night, and he was quite right when he said we hadn't played well but had scrapped for the 3 points. Sometimes you need to do that in this league. Try that against Norwich on Friday and we will get rolled over. We need to try a more possession based game against the Canaries. It's my bloody Xmas works night out on Friday, so won't see the game....although I do have Mobdro so if there's a decent wifi connection then i'll be watching it on my phone. RE: Burton Albion v Town - theo_luddite - 14-12-2016 YouTube highlights Tell you what that was a depressing walk up and down the Derby Road between the station and the ground. Can't remember when I last saw so many (mostly unwashed) net curtains in the windows of row after row of terraced houses. There might be a lot of money in the town in the breweries and and the much despised Pub Co's but it sure as hell isn't trickling down into that part of the town, which is the main drag if you ever get diverted off the A38. You would think Burton would be a great commuter town for Derby/Nottingham/Leicester/Brum. It doesn't give that impression on that road. RE: Burton Albion v Town - theo_luddite - 14-12-2016 According to Ed White in the Yorkshire Post, it was a win we barely deserved. You a Leeds fan by any chance Mr. White and pissed off that your were reporting from a little ground in Burton rather than Bellend Road? Not saying we were best by a long way on the night but neither were Burton. Well apparently he probably wasn't at Burton as he also filed a report for The Yorkshire Post on the Leeds Reading game too, both by email. Remarkable Jeff that this guy can report on two games at the same time and be objective on both, well in his own tiny little mind anyway. RE: Burton Albion v Town - Lord Snooty - 14-12-2016 Who has a Christmas do this close to Christmas? ![]() RE: Burton Albion v Town - theo_luddite - 14-12-2016 I'm logged on to the YP website to try and comment on the ability of this guy to be able to report on two games taking place on the same evening despite them being some 80-85 miles apart. They don't appear to want to let me comment. Unbelievable Jeff!! Can't remember the last Christmas do I went to and not because too many brain cells are floating in the river under the bridge. Just can't be arsed with them. New Year's Eve half an hour after 23:30 is a pain in the ariss too. Bah! Humbug!!! Bring me another bottle of claret please nursey. ![]() RE: Burton Albion v Town - jjamez - 14-12-2016 There was a report on the yp website this morning that looked a hell of a lot like the report that was on the sky sports app... RE: Burton Albion v Town - sloppyattheback - 14-12-2016 Theo - Burton centre is either Asian or heavily Polish these days, lots of warehouse and distribution type jobs, Kerry Foods, Toyota only 10 miles up the A38, Nestle, Marstons, Unilever Marmite so plenty to go at and close enough to Fradley Pk in Lichfield which is huge in itself to be bussed in. The town centre isnt great these days, there's some really nice parts on the north side heading out towards the A50 and west towards Lichfield, but yes the walk from the Station is via the Asian areas near the hospital, so kind of the Saville Town of Dewsbury I guess. This might explain why a club like Burton who have risen amazingly up thru the leagues, in a town that has been a Derby stronghold forever, struggles to get 3000 'new' home fans when the current population mix is taken into account. As my old man says, all the original Dewsbury ( and same for Batley) folk go to the Rugby to congregate on a sunday, all 600 of them ! |
