RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - Mirf - 08-05-2016 I can well understand some of the comments on DATM because lets be honest, we've seen very little progress in our first 4 seasons back in The Championship and unless Hoyle drops his "self-sustaining and sell our best players" philosophy, then it could be curtains for our Championship status next season. Just in case anyone has forgotten our ongoing struggles to avoid relegation, here are the stats: 2012/13 - 58 points - 19th in league. 2013/14 - 53 points - 17th in league. 2014/15 - 55 points - 16th in league. 2015/16 - 51 points - 19th in league. I make that 184 championship games played and a total return of 217 points giving a 1.18 points/game average, which is a piss poor return in anybody's language. Personally, I can't come up with three teams who will be worse than Town next season, plus when we give the very average Hudson a new 3 year contract, it fills me with despair and makes me wonder if we are already planning for life back in League One. So something has to change in the close season and we have to sign some genuine Championship quality players, otherwise I fear it will be goodnight Vienna. ![]() RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - jjamez - 08-05-2016 Hudsons three years is him moving into coaching too dont forget mirf it isnt three years of playing then doing coaching. Hasnt dean already said our better players wont leave and that we have money to spend? You say that you cant see three teams worse than us...brighton last season 20th burton in lg1 predicted to be mid to bottom end, they are up near the top. I dont think Leicester thought that they would be top of the pile and Chelsea wouldnt have thought that there would be as many teams above them as there is. Each season is a different story, a new story. Counting up points from seasons previous is just another stat really isn't it? Might give a guide but to me its pinch of salt and take each season on face value RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - Lord Snooty - 08-05-2016 We will look back this time next year and laugh at all the negativity as we raise aloft the Championship trophy RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - WakeyTerrier - 08-05-2016 Obviously it's very disappointing to lose the last 2 games as we did but we have to hope Dean backs Wagner in the summer transfer market otherwise it will be a tough season next season Goalkeepers- as of now we pretty much have 1 goalkeeper in Murphy and he's cracked until October so we need 2 keepers Defence, he's already bought Hefele and Löwe so that adresses the initial worry of left and centre back. Hudson will play but unless it's a formation change then I think he'll be rotated more next season. We probably still need another right back that's better than Tommy Smith though. Midfield....minefield more like. Huws will depart,Paterson will arrive but at what cost, Whitehead will be ok for another season,Billing will get better. Attacking wise we have the improving Lolley and the recently bought Van Le Parra not to mention Bunn who's stagnated of late but is decent enough, I think Matmour will go. I think we need to make a statement of intent and splash out on a bit of quality in midfield. Up front...Nahki but again he needs someone else to share the goals but it's not easy signing someone when you have a rotation policy. So I'm thinking 5 more players at least and at least 2 have to be proven quality at this level and a step up from what we have RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - jjamez - 08-05-2016 People are complaining about the fact we have got two free transfers and possibly a loanee. Do people not realise that these free transfers were players who were offered new contracts but took up our offer? We've taken advantage of the contract system yet people think we arent signing any quality because we havent splashed 3mil. The transfer system isnt all about giving a club x amount of millions then convincing the player to join, its about making your strike as early as possible and getting as good a player as possible or the player you want for as little as humanly possible. Its not fricking rocket science. These fans are supposedly from yorkshire where people have short arms and deep pockets yet they cant fathom something so simple. RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - theo_luddite - 08-05-2016 Wigan showed today you don't need to be in the bottom 1/3rd to get your backsides kicked in your last home game by another team that wants it more and they scored first. So now we know we've got Wigan and The Brewers, a visit to Millwall to replace the day trip to Charlton doesn't cut it for me. Given how close they are geographically, the're fans are chalk and cheese in mentallity. Give me another Yorkshire derby over Walsall, even though I've only got to roll out of bed and jump on a bus or two to get there. RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - Terrier1987cas - 09-05-2016 Just read through this thread. Definitely going to give my opinion tomorrow but it won't differ too much from Jamezz's brilliant post. Also how long's Mirf being back of is it just the last 2 games giving him something to moan about? ? RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - Lord Snooty - 09-05-2016 Haha. As usual, Mirf only turns up after a big defeat. ![]() RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - EastLondonTerrier - 09-05-2016 hahahah he's guna turn into the DATM doom bringers if he's not careful. RE: Huddersfield Vs Brentford Match thread - Mirf - 09-05-2016 It appears to me that a number of fans on here are quite happy to settle for second best and see Town struggle along, season after season, trying to avoid the drop. ![]() Trouble is their minds have been so conditioned that they see yearly survival somehow as a success ![]() Anyhow lets hope we make some decent quality signings in the close season, otherwise come next May, I fear the drop will be a formality. ![]() |
