Surely we are at a stage where you get judged on what you do, it doesn't matter what colour race or gender you are as an individual.

As a ref, 90% of the time you are going to be shite, that's because everything about reffing is shocking at the moment, it's just bad decision after bad decisions and the fa/pgmol or whatever it's called just defend to the hilt. The training is obviously not working or maybe not even there. Or it's being provided by people who weren't very good themselves.

Tbf name me 5 good refs any nationality, I reckon you struggle. Var has made it harder for them not easier, social media doesn't help, nor does that stupid ref watch on sky sports news.

You look at cricket, if you follow it, you'll have a fairly decent idea of the good umpires and in world cricket there are quite a few and yes they do make mistakes still

I should have known it was a mistake to come down and support Town in a moment of madness - that's the players as well as me.

Hull had the referee conned in their tip-tappy passing in their own penalty box in the first half - if I'd been reffing this effing farce, I'd have booked at least one of them for time-wasting/ungentlemanly conduct/whatever. That would have stopped their nonsense. Give them their due, Hull were very good at it - game management? It was very obvious they abandoned that tactic in the second half - perhaps "someone" from the officials had a quiet word with "someone" from the Hull staff at halftime? Whistle

Anyway Hull were much sharper than we were in the first half and we looked as though everyone was waiting on everyone else to do something. A sharp finish from Rudoni, obviously a firm favourite with one of my friends Big Grin made for an exciting ending. Unfortunately we were suckered just as much as the ref had been earlier and lost another goal in the danger zone (just after we've scored). I still think we were worth at least a point after a dominant second half.

I'll be back (with fair weather and a following wind - shades of a Blazing Saddles bean feast)!

Does anybody else find it strange that we appoint a new manager last Thursday and yet we are still to hear from him

Somebody's said press conference today. But knowing Town, Worthy will still be in charge on Saturday. Rolleyes

It's that Brex(sh)it benefit. He needs a work permit, as does anyone else that comes with him from elsewhere in Germany (or Europe). Chances are his was rubber stamped with few questions asked. His mates however ..... ? Just saying. Tongue We could appoint Dean Hoyle as fitness coach if we wanted (until we got promoted), but furrin coaches now need full (or nearly obtained full) FIFA/UEFA badges. Then you've got the Home Office checking to make sure they didn't arrive overnight on a RIB at Dover with 50 of their mates they met a few hours earlier on a beach in France. Whistle

2:00, Nachmittag Mittwoch, apparently. Or just before finishing lunch as they call it in France.

Jjamez is right that it shouldn't matter about race or gender when refereeing. The greatest problem is that football has become a refereed instead of a played game. There is an idiot, impossible belief that every important decision has to be right ..... and that forensically analysing every blast or silence on the whistle can become part of the game. The referee has become so integral to results that several continental clubs already employ refereeing advisors, a role now proposed for Mr Clattenburg, when not on Gladiators!

The truth is sport is a way for human beans to take the rough with the smooth, without complaint or anyone getting killed or injured. It is an enjoyable undress rehearsal for the exigencies of life. If you get kicked stop crying, get a mardy tablet and get on with it. If the opposition score and you think something unfair happened. Hold the tantrum. Stop swearing and try to be a grown-up.

Whilst I have nothing against women referees I do think women and men play football in different ways, just as men and women have different ways of thinking. I can't see that men's or women's football benefits from officials of a different gender. The developing WSL needs more good female officials, and whilst men's football needs better referees, stealing them from the women's game seems akin to the NHS recruiting large parts of its staff from poorer countries which have invested heavily in training them. I hope women's football soon no longer needs or wants men managing teams and that both men and women can appreciate each other's game without weighing one against the other. Bluntly a glut of testosterone helps in some ways and sometimes turns you into a nasty set of ruthless psycho' bar stewards in another.

If men at all levels treated referees better and with greater respect, then the decisions referees make would improve exponentially. Perhaps it is significant that the best rugby referee was openly gay. Did that perhaps set him aside from some of the pressures the game levels at others?

Well it's all about inclusion, innit. A way to try and get more women and girls into stadiums. The more we see ladies present, the more normalised it becomes.

At HTFC, I reckon we have a high percentage of female fans. Haven't seen any figures but I'd say it's on the increase. We always see lots of lasses at Town away games, whereas a lot of teams who come to our place appear to be very much cock led. Stoke for example. Why would any female watch them and listen to that disgusting song of theirs?
