RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - theo_luddite - 08-02-2015 Just seen it on the FL show. No idea what the first yellow was for but the ref has gone for Wells making a back when others might have said the defender was jumping all over him. Free kick maybe, yellow/red card, dubious at best. Still, another 3 points off Hollowmouth and from reading the reports, well deserved. RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - MNTerrier - 08-02-2015 Seen the highlights Wells second booking was a Travesty , seen it described in the media as a "rash Challenge" was a 50/50 ball in the air, every right to go for it, never took his eyes off the ball and the Millwall player jumped over him then threw himself to the ground, Ref was looking for an excuse to send him off and that nonsense if Wells walks for that how did millwall keep 11 players on the pitch, banner at the beginning was for kick it out, apparently a millwall player believed that applied to butterfields head RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - Lord Snooty - 08-02-2015 Wells had had his last warning And I suppose the booking was for an accumulation of fouls. But then it wasn't a foul and if players are getting reds for such like we may as well just stop playing because referees and their stupid rule makers are ruining the game. RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - MNTerrier - 08-02-2015 if anything it was a foul committed against him and its also absolutely arse backwards that you cant appeal a sending off due to a second yellow RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - theo_luddite - 08-02-2015 First time I've heard Powell complain about a ref after we've won. Mind you The Ginger Winger was moaning again the other night even tho Bolton got a penalty that never was. Leeds moaning that Brentford were playing basketball before they scored ( did they have the same blind lino they brought to ours last week)? Was expecting a slight improvement in officials in this division but it hasn't really happened compared to League 1. Scrap the 4th official or get a local Sunday League lad in to wave the board around. Too many half decent refs stood on the touchline with their fingers up their noses in the Prem meaning you get too much dross far too high up refereeing games they have no right to be at. Winger? It said whinger first time round. 'kin phone. RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - WakeyTerrier - 09-02-2015 Good morning all, first time I've had chance to come on here after a hectic weekend in London. First of all, Mr and Mrs Snooty can I say how sorry we are for your loss. It's never easy no matter how young or old they are but memories like you have with your dad taking you to the football all those years ago will never fade. Ok on to the game, no real surprises in the starting line up due to the shortage of experienced first team members thanks to injuries and the January sales. A fairly even first half although at half time I said it probably swayed our way 3-2 on decent chances. Cracking finish by Scannell for our first goal only to be pegged back by a slice of luck for Millwall when the ball hit the man rather than him trying to score. We both hit the bar, ours after some great build up play down the right and a quality pull back and shot. Pity really as that was the move of the match. Millwall keeper also pulled off a decent save to deny James Vaughan a looping header that was definately on its way in. That's not to say Millwall were being over run, they hit the bar and dragged one wide when the had a clear sight of goal. Another note about the first half....the ref. Started off by winding the home fans up by giving us free kick after free kick, and then did a 180 spin and started giving them everything. The only consistency he had was he was consistently dire. I think he may have booked one of ours (Wells)and three of them in the first 45mins. So half time the general consensus was sub Wells who already on a booking and lucky not to get booked for a shove before he was booked and had been given a final warning just before half time(ref called Hudson over to tell him to calm down) Second half...no changes! Now let me try and tell this from what I think is the refs point of view. He's told Wells one more and your off. We hoof the ball high out of defence, the Millwall man is favourite to get it and Wells is running to try and get in front of his man and shield the ball but just before he gets there he has a very quick look at the Millwall player and makes a back for him...the ref didn't need to think twice about it. Do I think it's a soft yellow card...most definately but as I say i can see why the ref booked him especially as he was clearly looking for his next foul. Anyway this now means 10 men and backs to the wall stuff with one man up front, Millwall came close a couple of times One with a high ball into the box and a header that flashed across the six yard box dying for someone to stick his big toe out. However fortune was shinning down on us on Saturday thanks to two mistakes. Firstly the defender slips and plays the ball to us and secondly Forde in the Millwall net was deceived by a bounce from Butterfield shot...I can still hardly believe it went in. After that more resolute defending and lovely bit of skill by Harry Bunn to get in the box and get a penalty(it looked stone wall from the away end but slightly dodgy on the box) The Millwall fans are streaming out at this point obviously not aware that Vaughan has a tendency to have them saved or skied. They were right though, cool and calm 1-3. All round a OK display at 11 v 11 but nothing to get carried away about as Millwall are a poor team, 11 v 10 much better all round team display that showed plenty of character. UTT Wolves match thread up today at some point, might not have any pictures though but I'll see what I can manage RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - Lord Snooty - 09-02-2015 Thanks, Wakey. ![]() RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - ARTERRIER - 09-02-2015 Smithies would have been crucified for Butterfields goal had he done what Ford had done. RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - EastLondonTerrier - 09-02-2015 Wow, town fans do love a moan don't they. Arguably our best performance under Powell and hardly anyones about on here after the match. I know people say 'oh its millwall, we should be beating them anyway' but that was the biggest show of character I've seen in this team for a long time. Remember Derby when we went down to ten men and lost 5-0? this time we were resolute, solid, still tried to be creative and got our rewards. People will do well to remember we would have probably lost that game heavily 6 months ago. Millwall no matter where their position is in the table is still one of the most intimidating and hardest grounds to come to in this division and to put in a second half performance like that when under immense pressure was outstanding. RE: Millwall v Huddersfield Town match thread - JUSTASILLYOLDGIT - 09-02-2015 Wasn't that Norwich Easty. ![]() |
