RE: EUROS - theo_luddite - 03-06-2021 Life's a bugger sometimes Wakey. You got home safely in the end which is more important. RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 03-06-2021 Never had to use it, but I downloaded the What3Words app. Might help the taxi to find you, but only if he has the app himself. Anyway, as theo says, at least you're home safe now. Bet you were going potty. Worst one I had, football involved, was breaking down on the way home from Workington after an FA Cup game in the 80s. Spent the night in Tebay Services. They closed at 10 in those days, so we had to kip in the van. RE: EUROS - WakeyTerrier - 03-06-2021 Yes we tried the what3words with the call centre but the taxi firms didn't use it. The first taxi firm that they kept using were based in Castleford and the RAC had given them info as A19 Selby (some 50miles away). Eventually another taxi from Catterick turned up but only after he had phoned us because the postcode that the RAC had given the office was a house in the middle of Northallerton some 6miles away. To top it all off this morning I was getting the bus to work and the bloody bus broke down. RE: EUROS - theo_luddite - 03-06-2021 I take it you've not bought any train tickets then - you know how these things happen in 3's!! Only for the Euro's A bit of good news, I emailed the England Supporters Travel club and pleaded our case and I'm happy to say that they have said we can still have our caps under the circumstances. It doesn't mean much to most people but to us having risen up the ranks it means a lot and they didn't have to do it RE: EUROS - theo_luddite - 03-06-2021 That's good ![]() RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 03-06-2021 Bad news for England. The fourth choice right back has been ruled out injured. RE: EUROS - theo_luddite - 03-06-2021 I'm sure we can find a fit forward to replace him, and while he's at it there's an injured centre back and a midfielder that don't need to be in the squad "in case they are fit enough for later rounds". Why are seemingly all England managers obsessed with bringing passengers along for the ride when a squad full of fit players will all be pushing for a start and might, big might, be more successful? RE: EUROS - Lord Snooty - 03-06-2021 True, theo. Pointless taking injured players. We've seen it before. By the time they're fit again, they're nowhere near match fit. Look at the farce we had with Rooney the other year. Can't remember which tournament it was, but Sven was in charge. All the speculation about when he would play. And when he did, he was crap! At least he was worth persevering with. Unlike Maguire and Henderson. Now that is as a bad experience as you wouldn't have wanted, which I would have hated to go through. The taxi must have cost as well.! |
